Driver
Awareness

I
was always scared to drive. Not because I didn’t believe that I
could be a good, responsible driver, but because I had heard so many
horror stories through the years of what happens to innocent people
due to those who should not have gotten behind the wheel. Being a
scared driver made me a better driver. I was aware of not only myself
and what I was doing on the road, I was also aware of everyone else
and what they were doing on the road. During the drivers ed
class, I made sure to pay close attention to everything that was
taught. They taught me there was more to being on the road than
making sure to follow the speed limit and stopping at stop signs.
While those two things are important, they also showed us the harsh
reality of driving. That being, the consequences of how unsafe
driving could affect not only my life, but the lives of those around
me. Everything can be changed in the blink of an eye if a person is
not pay attention. Having the proper knowledge and skills that I need
to keep myself and others safe on the road, while also, being trained
by someone with more than enough experience helps to increase the
odds that a person will develop safe driving habits and use them
forever. Which in turn will decrease the amount of fatal accidents,
making the roads safer for everyone!

There
have been multiple actions taken to reduce the number of fatal
accidents. Like people going into schools and teaching young drivers
the dangers of unsafe driving, and government/police enforcing more
strict drunk driving laws. The biggest way to ensure that there are
safer properly trained drivers on the road is to make sure that
during the class they are given more information than needed on how
to safely operate a vehicle. Secondly making sure when on the road
people are not being distracted by things like cell phones, or
makeup. Cell phones should be put on Do not Disturb mode and not
touched again until the driver has safely parked at a destination.

I
believe using education on safe driving and people being morally
responsible. i.e. not using their cells phones or any other
distracting things while driving. Then the road will be safer for
everyone who wishes to travel on it. People have kids, sisters,
brothers, moms, and dads. Don’t be the reason they never are seen
again. The texts are not important the road is. Second, pay attention
to the cars around you not just yourself. Thirdly, always be cautious
not only to those on the road, but to those not on the road.
Pedestrians always come first! Make sure to yield to them, and always
check to make sure they are not anywhere crossing the road before
continuing to drive.
