Drive
Safe; Someone Needs You
Imagine
a world where all drivers know and follow the laws. Amazing, right?
No worrying about getting in a wreck when leaving the house in a
vehicle, or getting in the car with a friend. This could actually
happen if we start with the younger generations coming now, and make
it the law that in order to get a driver’s license, the individual
must attend a drivers ed class. No more waiting to reach
eighteen years of age to just go take a test and pass to receive a
license. By taking this step, it could lower the number of deaths
related to driving. People would actually be aware of all the dangers
and be more cautious in their driving. Another step that could be
taken to help reduce the number of deaths would be to actually apply
the law of not texting and driving and or the use of phones.
As
a teenager who can drive, the biggest realization is how big of a
distraction a phone can really be when in a vehicle. Whether in the
driver seat or the passenger seat, any device is very distracting.
Now not all distractions can be caused by only phones. For example, a
family member reached over to grab their drink to take a sip and in
the second they looked over, picked up the mug, and looked back into
the road, the family member hit the back of another car. Luckily no
one was harmed in this accident, but unfortunately, that isn’t the
case all the time.
As
a driver in high school, I can become a better and safer driver by
staying off my phone while driving. I will also help other people
become safer and better drivers by not texting people when I know
they are driving.
In
conclusion, drivers ed is a very important to help reduce the
number of deaths that are driver related.
