You
would have never seen your mom alive again”

I
remember that Friday night, my friend and I were going to the cinema
when suddenly, we heard a loud honk, my friend stopped aggressively,
we got out of the car and a lady with her motorcycle were underneath
the car, luckily my friend had a big truck so the person and the
motorcycle were completely okay, there was not a single scratch
neither on her body nor on the motorcycle. We deeply apologized and
she just left with a phrase I’ll never forget, she said to us:
y’all, just imagine if I was your mom and the truck was a regular
car, you would have never seen your mom alive again, so next time
watch out. My friend and I left from that scary scene almost crying,
off course, we couldn’t go to the movie, we felt terrible, and even
more because we both were on our phone and that prevented us from
seeing her approaching. That right there was a life lesson, I almost
was part of witnessing a death.

Driver
education is crucial when it comes to reducing the number of deaths
as a result of driving, drivers ed helps drivers understand
that driving is not just standing behind a steering wheel to get a
vehicle moving, it helps drivers understand so they can face the
immense responsibility driving requires. To reduce numbers of deaths
some steps can be to avoid distractions such as the phone, food, even
signs, obey traffic laws, drive well rested, never drive under the
influence of alcohol or other hallucinogenic substances, and drive
only when we find ourselves on harmony with our mental and physical
condition, when we can be focused on the road and the many factors a
road engages.

Since
that Friday night I took the decision to compromise myself with my
own safety and the safety of my family and the people around me, I
decided not to hold my phone never again while driving as my friend
did because that almost ended up in a catastrophe. I realized that we
could have gone to the cinema perfectly but our own decisions brought
us to that terrifying night, I strive to help others become more
responsible individuals by telling my story and with that I am
setting an example of life to people so they realize how serious a
lack of driving education is as it can bring consequences that we can
never imagine, consequences that bring even death to us or to our
loved ones.
