everyone can be like The Stig, or Ken Block who are able to make
driving look effortless. A strong drivers ed class helps
reduce the number of deaths from driving by ensuring that all drives
have a basic knowledge of the road, prepares new drives to take on
the road, and helps to provide an understanding of traffic laws.
Drivers ed is a standard curriculum that all new drivers
learn. Without drivers ed new drivers would take the road
without any knowing how to conduct themselves in traffic. Traffic
laws are numerous and it is overwhelming to learn them, but driver’s
education helps to ensure that new drivers know the most important
laws.
Teaching
the basics of driving before teenagers take the road is the best way
to reduce death as a result of driving. Starting drivers ed
before the age of 16 would be the one way to help drivers be safer on
the road. This class being more than a yearlong will provide a
stronger understanding of the road.
Preparing
a new driver to take on the road is a key factor in reducing traffic
related deaths. If new drivers are unleashed onto the roadways then
mass chaos occur. More comprehensive drivers ed and behind the
wheel courses will help to ensure the continued decrease of death
related to driving. The more prepared a driver is the less likely
they are to have an accident.
Traffic
laws are complex and numerous. Drivers ed helps to inform
soon to be drivers about the most important laws concerning driving.
From turn right on red after stop, headlights must be on when
windshield wipers are going. There are many different rules that
operators of automobiles have to follow. Knowing the laws of the road
helps to decrease traffic related deaths. Most accidents happen
because of either a disregard for the law, or a lack of knowledge of
the law. When all laws are followed, by every driver, the roads are a
safe place.
I
have never personally witness an accident because of careless
driving, but I know of several that have happened to family members.
My father once ran into the back of a school bus because he wasn’t
watching the road. If he hadn’t been wearing his he would have been
killed. Careless driving causes an accident for my sister. She was
pulling out of the high school parking lot and didn’t check both
ways before she pulled out and ran into a Jeep. While neither of
these accidents resulted in death, it was lucky that neither my
sister nor father were hurt.
There
are many reasons why drivers ed is important. Teaching
drivers the basics of driving before they take to the roads is a key
part of drivers ed. Preparing soon to be drivers and new
drivers to handle situations on the road is another reason that
drivers ed is important. Lowering death rates is the most
important reason for the class.
