Drivers
must educate themselves on all the potential dangers they can face
before putting themselves on the road. If more drivers educate
themselves, they know the dangers and how to avoid them to the best
of their abilities. If more people knew the dangers and how close the
consequences are to anyone who decides to drive, they would drive
more carefully. Some steps that can be taken to reduce these deaths
are to have more police officers or designated people to stay on
multiple roads to track everyone’s speed. Although some officers
already do this, we need more in more areas to stop those who are
speeding, since speeding is a huge factor contributing to these
deaths. I have had an experience with a friend of a friend whom I
went to high school with recently die last year as a result of
dangerous driving. She was the passenger, and the driver was drunk
driving and sped his truck into the back of a semi-truck. This
incident hit so close to home becauseI knew her and realized anyone
could die any time as the result of an irresponsible driver. Steps
that I can take to be a better and safer driver are putting my phone
on do not disturb while I’m driving until I get to my destination,
along with making sure that whoever is driving me isn’t intoxicated
and I truly trust. To help others become safer on the road, we can
protest or petition more people or machines to measure everyone’s
speed limit and catch them before they hit anyone. Manufacturers of
all cellphone devices can make a setting already installed in the
phone to detect if someone is driving and won’t let them do anything
except answer calls only if they are already connected to a Bluetooth
device.
