Awareness
of Action
I’ve
always had a constant fear of driving a vehicle that can potentially
kill & injure me. My first moment of grabbing the steering wheel
I was all shaken up, afraid of every action I take. And hurting the
people around me. When I started taking drivers ed, my fear
started to fade as I learn something new every day. Drivers ed
had taught me how to handle emergencies, such as what happens if my
car goes bonkers. How to safely operate a motor vehicle. I also
learned the importance of traffic laws and road rules, which are
important to everyone’s safety on the road. Drivers ed
knowledge teens as well as adults the important factors of owning a
vehicle, operating a motor as well as being aware of every second
spent inside a vehicle.
Here
in the US, about 37,461 people were killed in 34,436 motor vehicle
crashes, which an average of 102 per day has given from the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Taking into action.
some of the steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths
relating to driving is building an organization that can teach and
inform adults and teens the importance of safety behind the wheel. As
a community, we should request for more drivers ed school, as
well as making the process of getting your license a little bit
harder. Such as including an examination of traffic signals, as well
as how to handle a situation.
Living
in the teenager ERA is a tornado, teens aren’t aware of certain
things. Which is scary, especially when it comes to driving. 263
teens (ages 15 to 19) were killed as a result of distracted driving
in 2016, which was 2 years ago. Imagine the statistics today. I could
say I wasn’t a perfect driver, at a certain point I regret the
actions that I’ve taken. I was on my way to school, knowing that the
roads are straight, I have the habit of looking down on my phone. One
day I got into an accident where I ended up on the side of the
highway, I wasn’t aware of the construction signposted stand. As I
look up to the direction I was heading toward the sign. I took my
actions by heart, I was very irresponsible and knowing that I made a
mistake and it will never happen again.
Experiencing
a situation like this, I would like to step out of my comfort zone
and create an organization that alerts and teaches teens how to avoid
distractions while driving as well as informing consequences for a
certain action. I may not be a perfect driver, I know what not to do
while driving and you should too.
