The importance of drivers
education in reducing the number deaths as a result of driving is
very high.Teen crashes and fatality rates are highest among ages
16-18 but researchers say that there has been a significant change
with the help of drivers ed. Teens taking drivers ed are
less likely to be involved in accidents during their first two years
of driving.. A new eight year study that followed more than 150,000
teen drivers has found that drivers ed significantly reduces
crashes and traffic violations among newly and inexperienced drivers.
There
are many steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths
related to driving. The key points to reduce such risks are to obey
the traffic laws, be predictable, drive rested, avoid distractions,
and drive without the usage of alcohol or drugs. Following these
steps can assure that you’ll help make the roads not only safer for
you but for others as well. Young drivers that have not completed
drivers ed are 75 percent more likely to get a traffic ticket,
24 more percent likely to be in involved in a fatal or injury
accident and 16 percent more likely to have an accident, studies have
shown. Drivers ed is a very big step in reducing the number of
deaths, those who have taken it or are currently taking it are slowly
but significantly reducing the number of accident greatly.
I
personally have had bad experiences of being in an accident and have
seen some of my friends and family be in an accident as well. The one
that I was in wasn’t as major but a common traffic crash due to
someone not paying attention properly at a four way stop, the car I
was in was hit by the rear but we were ok. None of my family members
or friends have been fatally killed in an accident but I have seen
strangers be in accidents in front of me that have been fatal. I
haven’t seen any of friends or family drive irresponsibly while in
the car with them but I don’t know if they do when I’m not there.
There
are many steps that I can take as well as I encourage others to take
as well. I have taken drivers ed for two years and I am very
pleased with the information and things that it has taught me. Im not
saying that I’m a perfect driver because there are things that I
can improve on but maybe taking more lessons can help me become safer
for myself and others.
