Undermining
the True Effects

Driving
can be a serious step to take in life. It can be very dangerous, and
some people may never want to learn because they don’t want the
risk of getting injured or killed. There are many ways to help
prevent the number of deaths resulting in driving. Drivers ed
can teach the new drivers how to drive correct, there can be a number
of steps to prevent inexperienced driving, and help people all
together be safer drivers on and off the road.

I
think drivers ed is an exceptional way to reduce harmful
driving. It helps show young and inexperienced drivers the importance
of learning the correct way to drive. It helps the students learn the
correct way to drive, and the correct rules to follow. Learning the
correct way and practicing the right way will teach the correct
habits needed to be a good driver. Drivers ed can also teach
how to react correctly in a crisis or accident.

There
are many steps which can be followed to help reduce the number of
deaths caused by car accidents. First, you could follow the
suggestions they have when it comes to fatigue driving, and
distractions. Getting enough sleep before traveling is a necessary
thing needed for safe driving. People who get less sleep are more
likely to wreck than people who get a good amount of sleep. Driving
can cause people to relax and get bored, and if you are tired then it
has more of an effect than if you are well rested. Distractions are
also a big problem when it comes to traveling. There are cell phones,
eating, talking to passengers, and many other harmful distractions
when it comes to driving. Reducing these distractions could help
reduce the number of deaths. The biggest distraction today is texting
and driving. Taking your eyes off the road is a dangerous situation
you do not want to get into. Once you start, it may be a bad habit
that is hard to overcome.

I
recently had a friend and classmate who was killed in a car accident.
He was traveling at three in the morning, and wrecked and was
ejected. He was not wearing his seatbelt, which is also a dangerous
habit. He had serious brain injuries, and unfortunately did not make
it through the surgeries and medical help he received. If he would
have been more careful, and had been wearing his seatbelt he may have
had a better chance than what he did. He was also driving in the
middle of the night which could also be a cause for the wreck. Be
safe, wear your seatbelts, and do the right things when it comes to
driving to prevent situations like these from happening.

Finally,
some steps I can follow are to take driving seriously, wear my
seatbelt at all times, be considerate of others on the road, block
out all distractions, and to overall do what is supposed to be done
when driving. To help others be safe, I can continue to promote safe
driving through National Honor Society and the Seatbelts Are For
Everyone program. Being in these organizations have taught me the
true meaning of safe driving and why it is so important to be safe on
the roads.
