In the Drivers Seat

So many people are killed every year due to unsafe driving. There are so many things to learn to understand the importance of driver’s education. Drivers should know anything and everything about the car before they go out and drive it. Most accidents come from people not knowing how to control their car. Living in North Dakota it snows a lot, and it is icy for most of the year. Many people go out when they should not and that can lead to catastrophic. So many others die from reckless driving and there is nothing you can do about it, that is why we must have safer driving so we can live our lives for what it was supposed to be. An important thing is being focused 24/7, taking your eyes off the road or even talking to a friend can cause an accident to happen. When I was first learning to drive, I told myself I was never going to get into a car accident. I was never going to be like all these others who were always getting into accidents. To continue there are many steps to take to avoid these numbers of death. The most leading cause of car accidents in general is people drinking and driving. So many people have lost their lives to someone drinking under the influence when the driver seems too always be fine. I hope eventually people will realize how deadly driving while drunk can be. One step is putting the phone down. So many people are addicted to their phones. If we could put them down for one second, the number of deaths from driving would go way down. We are so focused on our phones that we put them first and ourselves second. Answering a text message is not more important than your life. Another step is putting your entire focus on the road. You do not need to have a good song on or be talking to your friends. When you are driving on the road it is not just your life at hand, it is so many others just like you who are just trying to get to their destinations safely and that can go away in just a second. In the past couple of years so many people around my age have been either in and accident or even killed. On social media there are people who think it is a funny thing to get into an accident. About a year ago I was leaving school and I slid into one of my classmate’s cars, she thought it was so funny, yet I did not. How can someone find something so serious to be funny? Another time I ended up getting into a worse accident. I was not paying attention and ended up running into someone else’s car. I totaled my car and had to pay for my actions. Being in a car accident does many things to you. For me if someone is not stopping and is coming up behind a car very close then I feel panic in my body and get very scared. When viewing other people’s driving, they drive like they have more than one life. They will be full on sending someone a picture even when there are other people in the car. There are many steps to becoming a safer driver not just for yourself, but for others as well. You should always be focused and alert. You should also always be watching the other guy, pay attention to others around you who might not be driving safely. Always be driving at the speed limit and never speed, you should also cut out any distractions you may be experiencing. Another way to be a safe driver is to always buckle up and always make sure your vehicle is safe to drive. There is also a rule called the “3-4 second rule.” The rule is you stay at least 3-4 seconds behind the person in front of you giving you enough time to stop and avoid an accident. You should also make sure to check your blind spots and mirrors to make sure that you are all clear before changing lanes or evening before you leave your destination. Driving is always a scary thing when you must focus on other people, and you never know when someone will not be paying attention and cause you to get into an accident. After realizing how dangerous driving can be, I hope that I will take all the precautions and drive safer than I have been.
