Drivers Education

Driver education is very important not only for the learning aspect of it all but also in reducing the number of deaths that happen because of driving. You can get into driver education classes as early as fifteen and a half years old and your license at 16 years old (6 months after you start driver’s education). Even though this is a short time period to learn how to drive you should really pay attention to the details and tricks on driving. I know in this era it is hard for your attention span to focus, but learning about this can really safe lives. Nearly 200,000 car accidents happen per year, car accidents can happen really randomly either you are the one at fault or the other, knowing the rules of driving helps reduce this number, just by paying attention while driving you can safe a life including your own.

I have luckily never experienced a harsh car crash in my life, but I have been in close contact with one. I remember one day I was walking home from school in the 9th grade and I was crossing the sidewalk. It was my turn to start walking since the stop light turned green with the little person walking symbol. Once I was almost on the other side of the street This car comes out of no where and came in from the turning right lane and it almost crashed into me just because, they weren’t paying attention to what was going on. As it turns out the people in this car were teenagers. I didn’t get hit luckily because one of the people in the car that was sitting on the passenger side saw that I was walking, and they turned the wheel the other way to avoid crashing into me but instead crashed into the sidewalk. They were okay too just a little scratch on the side of their car. The weird thing is no one really cared about what was happening no one stepped out of their car no one asked if I was okay it was like if it never happened. The thing is that day my mom was behind me but father away since I had wanted to go ahead. Knowing that I could have been affected but didn’t because one of the passengers noticed me saved me is really crazy to me. Now that I have this experience in the back of my head I know now to be extra careful when crossing streets near my house since most car crashes happen near there anyway and to listen to my mom and stick with her when I am walking with her on the street. Talking about my neighborhood another story I have of a car crash that happened in the same place, it was not that long ago it was this month actually (October 2023), I was on the bus coming home from school. My mom was actually the one who heard if from my nina, she had said that three cars crashed and one person had passed away but that the driver at fault (the one who caused the crash) ran away and there was a neighborhood search for him. Schools around the whole neighborhood were closed just in search of this man which had a gun, just think about all the parents who had to wait outside their children’s schools while a man with a gun was running around the place. Just because, the man didn’t want to go to prison, him running made it worse for him.

So, they also closed down the street that I lived on and many other streets.

It is crazy to think about if one of my brothers was coming back from work, or if my mom didn’t come and pick me up and went to pick up my brother instead they could have been one of the people involved in this crash. Things like this are always happening on the same street that I live on especially car crashes. If you want to look into it more my city’s name is South Gate, it is not very popular so it does not get on the “big news”. Always when you are crossing anyroad look both ways even if it is your turn to walk if the driver is not paying attention at least you are paying attention to have enough time to move out of the way. Stick with your parents kids! Stay safe.
