Road Education-The Dangers of Mindless drivers

Many people on the road know the simple rules that everyone obeys. These rules such as, stop at a red light, go on green, or make sure you stop at every stop sign. However, the majority of drivers don’t fully understand or grasp the responsibility they have at the wheel. They are driving a moving vehicle that is capable of traveling at more than 100 miles per hour at any given time. If drivers took the time to realize how much power they have in their possession, then more than likely, the amount of crashes per year would decrease. Also, there are many people that don’t know how to drive and are endangering themselves along with others. Without more regulations or by making driving tests more vigorous, drivers over time might get worse without the proper tests and training. Drivers Education isn’t a mandatory course but it should be mandatory, free of charge. If the course is free then naturally, there would be very little complaining. Not only would the roads be safer, but the people on those roads would also be safe.

Safety is the most important factor to any vehicle. Without safety mechanisms in those vehicles we’d all be injured or even worse, dead. My uncle hit a wall going at 100 miles per hour that sent his car flying and rolled his car several times. He was sent to the hospital with a broken neck and almost lost a part of himself overtime in that hospital My uncle was saved from a lady who pulled him out from the car before it lit up in flames. Although his experience isn’t my experience, I could have lost a family member that day and he would have never been an important figure in my life. Every time he comes and visits my family, im always showered nby wisdom and genuine love. I can’t say the same for the victims who’ve lost their family members in car crashes. My uncle was relatively young when he crashed and most car crashes are caused by young adolesents. The amount of crashes caused by young adolesents are increasing every year because they don’t educate themselves about the dangers of driving and how dangerous they are. However, not all young poeple are irresponsible and those are the drivers that the world needs, we need responsible drivers. We don’t need any more crashes.

Everytime im on the road there is always at least one crash that holds up traffic. Almost all creashes are preventable except for freak accidents involving mechanical falures while driving. These crashes could’ve been fatal if they were going faster than the speed limit, not stopping at a red, making a U-Turn, or even switching lanes. Anything can cause a crash, and almost always can they be prevented if they knew the rules of the road. Mindless drivers will always dangerous if we don’t educate them. According to iihs.org, “A total of 42,939 people died in motor vehicle crashes in 2021. This was a 10 percent increase in deaths compared with 2020.” This is an alarming number that is clearly increasing largely and not slowly. The people closest to you could have fallen into this number. Drivers should be very educated on what they do when they take the wheel. Even if its a course that is probably only taken once, it should still be brought up occasionally. In addition, in order to make the roads safer for everyone, technology is advancing and being implemented into our vehicles.

These technological advancements are aiding those who struggle to be on the road and making the roads safer. The only downside is that those features are on new cars or expensive cars. Efforts should be made to make these safety features cheaper, as they are essential to every driver. If we increase the the safety then we reduce the amount of deaths per year due to car crashes. While many argue that these features are pointless and that all they need is experience, not all people have the same amount of experience and knowledge. Experience and knowledge takes time to develop. And if they count crashing as experience, then they are the individuals that we need off the road. We need people who are willing to take time out of their day to either teach or re-educate the drivers of todays world. Teaching is mankinds essential tool to survival.

In conclusion mindless drivers need to be taken off the road and educated. Its better to start early than to not start at all. The 42,939 people that died because of car crashes could’ve been with their loved ones today. Even though we can’t bring them back, we can certainly take measures to prevent more deaths and even crashes from happening. Im a 16 year old who has a perimt to drive. Everytime I drive, I remind myself that im responsible for the vehicle and most importantly the lives of those in the vehicle. My mom is teaching me how to drive safely and properly. If I don’t do something right while driving my mom is the first and only one to correct me. After the mistake im given a lecture about what could have happened if I hadn’t been lucky. Im always reminded and that is my whole point. Being reminded about what you’re doing everytime you drive is essential to everyone. There’s no harm to it, no price tag, and no catch. All my mom is doing is teaching me, a mindless driver who is hoping to be taught many things about driving.
