Drivers education
One primary benefit of driver’s education is that it teaches new drivers all the mandatory rules of the road. Drivers’ education teaches traffic laws, how to avoid accidents, what to do in the presents of an emergency vehicle, speed limits, etc. They teach the basic laws of driving that are important regulations to be followed to avoid an accident. Drivers’ education also teaches about the dangers and distractions of driving. This is a real problem that is responsible for many accidents on the road each year. By teaching this and providing basic instruction for staying focused on the road, this will reduce the number of tragic accidents in the future. Taking a driver’s education course will help drivers gain confidence in themselves and their abilities. Learning how to drive can be challenging for new drivers, however, learning in a supportive environment, and necessary training. New drivers will grow to become more at ease behind the wheel.
There are several important steps needed to be safe on the road, but it all boils down to common sense. A lot of these safe driving habits include watching your speed. It is important to keep your eyes on the speed limit. Speed limits are designed with a goal to keep everyone safe. Not just for drivers but for others on the road including passengers, pedestrians, and bicyclists. The higher your speed is the harder it is to stop in this resulting in a fatal crash.
Do not tailgate another driver use the “Two Second Rule”. This is a rule of thumb by which drivers maintain a safe driving distance at regular speed. Drivers should ideally stay at least two seconds behind any vehicle that is in front of them. The three-second rule is also recommended instead of a two-second rule to give an additional safeguard. These practices have been shown to reduce the risks of collisions and server injuries if a collision was to occur.
Another step to reduce the risk of a collision would be to not drive aggressively. Do not drive aggressively! Driving aggressively not only causes accidents, but it can also lead to other dangerous acts such as road rage. Road rage is even more destructive than aggressive driving. This is the act of which someone purposely breaks the law to endanger other persons or property. Anyone can be the victim of aggressive driving. Innocent by standers can become the victims of angry out of control drivers.
Remember to wear your seat belt while operating a motorized vehicle. This goes for all individuals seated in the car. Airbags will not deploy on their own, you need to wear a seat belt. Seat belts prevent all fatalities in a car accident if one was to occur. You always want to wear a seat belt if in the result of a collision you could be ejected through the vehicle and the outcomes are almost always deadly. Buckling up helps keep you and your loved ones safe inside your vehicle.
I have never been in a car accident, but I have witnessed the terrible aftermath of a car accident before. As for my family, I have noticed some irresponsible driving errors. One specific error would be improper signaling. Especially when it comes to changing lanes, signaling lets other drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians know your intentions. You must signal at least 100 ft before turning or changing lanes. Which is something a few of my family members don’t remember to do.
The best way I can become a better driver is to listen to my own advice and think about safety first. Leave plenty of space between me and the driver in front of me by following the three-second rule. Lock the doors when I get in the car and always wear a seat belt when I am driving. This will always protect me while I am in my vehicle and protect me from being thrown in a car crash. Adjusting and checking my mirrors frequently will help me spot dangerous blind spots and help me see other drivers on the road better.
Checking my mirrors frequently will help me be more aware of what is happening around my vehicle. Maintaining a safe driving speed not just for me, but for other drivers. The higher the speed the more difficult it is to control a vehicle. To maintain control of my vehicle I first get my speed under control. Driving at the maximum safe speed limit on both highways and regular roads.
Lastly do not depend on other drivers to do what’s right, this is a rule I live by. It is important to be considerate of another driver but look out for yourself as well. I never assume another driver will obey the rules of the road. I assume that other drivers will run through stop signs, cut me off, speed up etc. I react safely and calmly without responding in an irresponsible manner. I am always prepared for the worst-case scenario.
The best advice I can give to someone on the basics of driving safely is to wear your seat belt. Stay alert and always avoid distraction. Keeping both hands on the wheel, check your mirrors to be aware of your surroundings. Most importantly be confident in yourself, no one’s a perfect driver. The key is to know yourself, your car and own the road.
