Being a precautious driver
The importance of driver’s education is extremely high because it reduces the amount of car accidents, and increases car and driving safety for themselves and others. Imagine talking to a person with no driver’s education whatsoever but still driving. You probably wouldn’t trust that person to drive you places. But if you were talking to someone with really great driving skills and education, you would trust that person to drive you to places. There is a difference between the two, especially the chances of getting into a car accident. It is a well-known fact that people with no driving skills are more likely to get into car wrecks while people with a lot of knowledge of driving are less likely to. Though some people don’t have a lot of driving education, it’s always simple logic to be careful when you’re driving. For example, almost everyone who drives knows to put on a turn signal when trying to switch lanes or trying to turn to a different street. Or to always look at your surroundings when driving, you never know what could be near you or in front of you, you could hit or run something over. The steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving is to always check your blind spots. People turn and switch lanes whenever without looking at their side mirrors, even if they do, they still probably don’t check their blind spots. People turn without looking causing heavy injuries to both the people and maybe even death in some places. Always make sure there is space to fit your car whenever you switch lanes. If not, it could lead to serious consequences. Even if there seems to be space, check your blind spots as well, you might never know if there’s a car right next to you that the side mirror does not show.
Take me for example, I was in the car with my cousin, and we were driving to the park not too far from the house. We were on a neighborhood road and my cousin wanted to drive. I knew it was a bad thing to do because he had no driving experience whatsoever, but I still let him. He got behind the wheel and I got in the passenger seat, I put my seatbelt on. He was speeding a little bit considering it is a neighborhood. I wasn’t too stressed about it because the park was right around the corner. What I had noticed though was that as soon as we turned into a bigger lane, my cousin wasn’t looking at his surroundings at all. He was right in the middle lane and we were less than a mile away. I told him to turn and he impatiently said “Yeah I’m going to”. I let him do the rest and while we were progressively going closer to our destination, he turned on his blinker to the right, indicating to switch lanes. He looked at the side mirrors and saw that nobody was there, but the one thing he didn’t look at was his blind spot. Sure enough, as I turned to look there was a car there and my cousin was already switching lanes. It was too late before I could warn him and all of a sudden I heard a loud honk and then a small little scraping noise. The back of the car was mildly damaged with little scratches while the other car that we hit was not as bad as ours. My cousin was embarrassed and shocked at the fact that he never thought to look at his blind spots. My cousin was very apologetic to the person that he hit accidentally and thankfully the person wasn’t harsh about it at all, as a matter of fact, he didn’t have to pay a single dime towards the person’s wreck even though it was a hundred percent my cousins fault that they got into a little car wreck.
In the end, what I’m trying to say is to try not to end up like my cousin, please check your blind spots, you may never know what would be there, especially if you are driving a big vehicle it is most necessarily important to check your blind spots because the bigger the vehicle, the more blind spots you are going to have. This could not only save your life but the life of others, it is a known fact that at least 25% of car wrecks happen because people don’t check their blind spots. Don’t be the 25%, it’s not that hard to turn around to see if there is a car next to you. Be more careful of yourself and other people’s surroundings.
