Driving is serious
Driving is serious business. My mother always told me that while I learned to drive. You are in charge of operating a motor vehicle that at any moment could become dangerous. You are in charge of your own life and anyone else who may be on the road or in the car while you’re driving. People who don’t understand the magnitude of the dangers are the most dangerous people on the road. You cannot possibly prevent every accident that may happen, but you can learn ways that will ensure you did everything right in order to protect yourself and others. You learn ways to make quick decisions, to make judgment calls, and to be prepared for other people. Driving isn’t all about what you do behind the wheel, other people around you also need to know their best options. You cannot bypass driving, you can’t cheat or skip in order to achieve it faster. You have to learn, and listen, and practice the safe way in order to prepare yourself. Education is important to drop deaths because people will learn the right ways to drive. People will stop themselves before doing anything that might place them or someone else in danger. We can teach people the right ways to do things, instead of the wrong way that could be dangerous. Reckless drivers can be taught the right ways without needing to punish them for not knowing. You can’t always prevent the worst case scenario, but you can ensure that some cases are avoided. We can prepare people. We can show them that there are cases where a split second decision is all you have to make the right choice. You teach people how to better their judgment and be aware of how to avoid bad outcomes. There is always another way to prevent the accidents, and there will always be a better decision that can be made. People need to know. We can inform people of all the bad decisions they might make that can affect everyone. A split second irresponsible decision, making a fast turn their last one, or one drive they may believe they are able to make, could be their last one. Another step is encouragement. We can encourage people to do the right things, encourage them to do everything the right way. People will gain the confidence to know they are completing everything the right way. People should always be a little afraid of driving, but people should also be confident enough to know they can make a quick decision in time and be able to save themselves. I had a cousin, she was on my moms side of the family. My mom and her were close and her kids and I were close. One night, her husband assured her he was in the right headspace to be able to drive. Everyone convinced him otherwise but he was positive it would be okay. Then one night, they crashed into a wall. Sadly, they both passed that night. You can never forget the way their kids cried, losing both parents in one second. My little cousin was so young she hardly understood why her mom and dad wouldn’t come home. My older cousin was old enough to understand very well why her mom and dad wouldn’t come home. There were plenty of other options to be made, but the bad judgment call cost them their lives. Our family spent weeks at their house comforting them and trying to get them to terms with what happened. There is no place to blame him, because in all honesty, he might have truly believed he was okay to drive. There are other ways they could have gotten home, but sometimes people don’t always realize those other options. There are lots of deaths we can take in order to better ourselves with driving. Personally, I can work on less phones. Phones are a teenage death when driving. They are addicting and they are hard to get away from. A second of split concentration can cause problems and accidents. I want to learn to disconnect and detach from things in order to get away from temptations. Gaining the self control to get away from phones and know that it is better to stay away. Also another problem, impatience. People can become impatient on the road. It makes people become aggressive, it clouds your judgment and aggravates people from being able to choose the right option. I have learned the importance of getting behind the wheel, starting a car and driving on the road. Driving is underestimated on the level of seriousness. Teaching people the dangers of driving will prepare them for any possibility of being on the road. Death on the road can be avoided, if everyone learns that we all can grow and get better, no matter how long we have been driving. Everyone has room for improvement and we will be able to grow everyday, in order to protect ourselves and everyone around us.
