The Wild World of Driving
As someone who is the uber driver of my friend group I would implore people to take driving classes. While the classes can be sluggish at times, once you get your license a whole new world is open for you to explore. It is important to pay attention in driving class because it can be the difference between life and death.
If you put someone on the road who never took a driving class in their life they could get into a bad accident. Now image everyone on the road never took a driving class before. It would be total chaos. Driving education is what creates order on the road. When people get educated properly, they will make less mistakes which leads to less deaths. Now how to drive, the idea of being safe on the road is to show accidents and the instructors can ask the students questions like who was in the wrong and why. It is a great way to teach students what and what not to do. If students don’t like seeing car crash videos another way to help educate them is by looking at car safety ads like don’t drink and drive or by a first responder coming in and talking to the students on what happens after the crash. There are many different ways to teach the same topic and it helps to uses different methods so students can really understand the gravity of the situation.
Driving can be very freeing it can also be very dangerous. I have experienced a minor car accident, and it was my fault. This accident happened about a year ago. So, I recently got my own car and I love it. It is a brown 2012 Acura 2 other relatives had it before me and there is a lot of miles on the car and the windshield was a little cracked (that was there before I got the car). So, a perfect car for a first-time driver. I went over to my cousins to hang out for a few hours. For parking my car, they have a long driveway that goes a little to the right. And I parked my car on the driveway that was furthest from the house. Had not trouble parking after a few hours it was time to head home, and I needed to revers out because I just drove straight onto the driveway. And as the driveway wasn’t completely straight and being a new to driver, I asked my cousin to help guide me out. I put the car in reverse and slowly started to move backwards and to this day I still don’t know why I did this, but I turned my wheel to early and accidently hit a small light post. The second I hit it I stopped the car and when I went out to see the damages the lamp post had a slight lean to it, and I had a like scar on my car. I started freaking out and my cousin immediately started to take videos and photos. I felt awful and the worst part of all of this is I have a backup camera. I don’t know why I was not looking at it. I had such a hard time sleeping that night. The next day I told my mom what happened and luckily, she wasn’t that mad because no other cars were damaged, and I only got a little damage on my car, but my aunt had to buy some new parts on her light post. And now my family, especially my sister and my cousin like to poke fun at the little accident, and I don’t blame them. I was not a good driver that night, but I learned from my mistakes. I practice reversing and now I am a pro. I take more time when reversing and most importantly I look at my backup camera. Now I am not saying to get into accidents so you can improve your driving. What I am saying is that when a situation comes up its important to learn from it and move on to be a better and safer driver.
As a person who as only been driving for about 2 years I don’t have as much experience as someone like my mom, but I have improved greatly over 2 years. One piece of advice I give to newer drives is when going some place new study the map. So, lets say I am going to friends house that I have never been to before. I put the address into google maps and go to the step-by-step directions to see where exactly I need to go. I mostly study photos because I am a visual person, and it is easier to refer to when I am driving. Now when I am on the road, I would be less distracted by google maps and since I studied the map which makes me feel less anxious on the road. Another piece of advice I give to a new driver is add a tiny decoration to your car. For an example I have 2 tiny plastic ducks in my car, and I have names for them Quackson and Bean. Its nothing big but it makes me feel more comfortable in my car to have something more personalized in there. Now I know as someone who is 2 years into driving, I am not going to have all the answers and best advice but what I have been saying with my advice is to make a driver feel calmer because when you are more relaxed you are more focused and concentrated so instead of you being stressed about what turn to make and get into a crash you can confidently get into the correct lane.
While driving can be a very crazy and confusing world driving education has been a huge help keep safety and organization on the roads. It is import for new drivers to keep using this education so we can all go home.
