I, too, experienced the frightening reality of car accidents when I was in the fourth grade, coming back from an amazing time at Aquatic with my grandmother and twin sister. We were about 5 minutes away from making it back to the house when suddenly our car was rear-ended by a driver who was texting. The sudden impact was shocking, and it made me acutely aware of the dangers of distracted driving. Witnessing my family’s occasional irresponsible driving habits, like frequently checking their phones, has further reinforced my belief in the necessity of driver education and vigilance on the road.
