Buckle Up!

Drivers’ education is an education everyone should get before stepping foot behind the wheel of a car. Drivers’ education is the key to safety on the roads. Although driving is one of the main types of transportation that gets us from place to place, on a daily basis, it is also a risk if you do not know the proper education behind driving a vehicle. When you are behind a wheel, you are the only one in charge of that vehicle, so it is your responsibility to make sure everyone in the car with you is safe and to make sure you are educated on the importance and safety of driving that vehicle.

The day you turn sixteen and go to get your driver’s license is a day everybody looks forward to. But it is also a day that you are put to responsibility every time you sit behind that wheel to drive somewhere. Making sure you carry that information with you that you have just learned about drivers’ safety is very important. Driver’s training is something all teenagers want to get over with just so they are one step closer to driving. They tend to not carry that information with them. It is important to know the rules of driving as there are many risks to it. When you are driving, you are not just at risk but the people driving next to you, behind you, or in front of you are also at risk if you do not have the proper education. In drivers’ training you get taught the importance and safety of driving. It doesn’t just teach you how to make the vehicle move but it teaches you the importance of before driving safety and safety while driving. It is important to make sure you know the features of your specific car you will be driving. You want to make sure before driving you are in a comfortable position. You are also taught to understand your surroundings; people crossing the road, blind spots, different types of vehicles like motorcycles, and road signs. It is important to understand all the different signs on the roads. Over 3,000 people die a day from car crashes.

So, what can you do to reduce the number of deaths in a year that are related to driving? Well, there are many steps we can take to help make driving safer for you and your peers. When stepping behind the wheel make sure you have types of distractions set aside. Whether it is your phone, your radio, or any other object or thing that might make you look away from the road. Phones are the biggest distractions while driving. People think it is okay to look down or text that person back quick while driving, but it is not okay. Just looking away from the road for two seconds can cause an accident. When driving you should have your full attention on the road. Also make sure you are comfortable when you are driving. Move your seat back and forth or up and down until you are comfortable and not too close or too far from the wheel. Make sure you can see out of all your mirrors. One of the most important things to do before backing up is to check your surroundings. Make sure there is nothing behind, in front, or under your car. That could save someone’s life. Before officially being able to sit behind that wheel on your own, make sure you have enough experience. When you have your permit drive until you know you are ready. It is important to feel ready and educated before stepping behind the wheel of any vehicle.

One day when I was driving in a parking lot looking for a spot, someone was pulling out and hit because they were only relying on the noises their car makes when someone is behind you. Although newer cars have many safety features like back up cameras, sensors, and beeping when you’re close to hitting someone, it is important to not rely on those safety features. Just because you have a back up camera, make sure you are still looking behind you and checking your surroundings because they safety feature may not always be useful or working.

Before stepping behind the wheel, make sure you know the dangers for you and your peers. It is so important to get the right education when it comes to driving. Take those few extra steps before driving knowing that it could save your or someone else’s life. Most importantly, make sure you buckle up!
