The Importance of Drivers Ed and How to Keep the Roads Safe

Motor vehicles are used daily by almost everyone, whether you are a child who has to go to

school or an adult who works; you are most likely transported by a car. Although you may feel confident in your ability to drive safely you can never know what the next move of the people around you may be. Driving is extremely dangerous for everyone around including drivers, passengers, and pedestrians. No one involved in accidents goes out and expect for something like that to occur but sad to say it can happen to anyone. Car accidents are scarily common in the United States and unfortunately, they can be fatal at times, this is why to reduce car related accident deaths it is extremely important to be properly educated in driving, be in the right headspace, and be completely sober when on the road.

Once a person turns 18 in most states in America they are legally allowed to take their driver’s test and obtain a license without having taken driver’s education courses or behind-the-wheel lessons with an instructor. This can be a potential danger to these drivers and the people around them because although they did technically pass their driver’s test, there is a huge possibility that there are things they do not know or misconceptions they have about driving due to a lack of driver’s education. Drivers education is a very important tool future and current drivers to not only feel confident in what they are doing on the road but it also guides them to make responsible and safe decisions on the road to make driving as safe as possible. I believe that for the safety of everyone driver’s education is essential for people to take before being legally allowed to drive on the road because it educates people on every step of driving and how to handle any potential situation to overall prevent accidents.

Another reason for car accidents deaths is a lack of sleep. Driving when you are very tired is very unsafe for a pletera of reasons, you could fall asleep at the wheel, lose focus, press on the breaks or gas too hard in which all of these reasons can easily cause an accident. Making sure you are well rested and energised can easily and effectively make it safer for you to be on the road for you and others. Be sure to manage your time and prepare efficiently if you are going to drive during early hours of the day to prevent being tired so you will be in a clear headspace to drive safely with care.

Another factor in causing accidents is intoxicated drivers. Just recently my sister lost a young friend of hers due to a drunk driver driving recklessly in a residential area. She had walked in the middle of a neighborhood road to help capture an injured cat when suddenly a truck speeding through this neighborhood sadly struck her and instantly killed her. She did not deserve to have her life taken this way and her loved ones did not deserve to lose their sweet friend, daughter, and sister. This is why driving sober and safely is important, because you are not only risking your life you’re risking the lives of everyone around you. To prevent accidents you must know that you are in a safe state to drive. If you are in a situation where you are intoxicated and need to get somewhere, phone a friend or family to get you or use public transportation; if not there are so many driving services like taxis or Uber that may be pricey but are way better than endangering yourself and everyone around you and majorly prevents a situation where you can cause a collision or get charged with driving intoxicated where you can face prison time and be fined.

When driving remember that you are not the only person on the road and that all the people around you matter but always be cautious of reckless, intoxicated, and clueless drivers. Always expect any outcomes from the cars around you when driving. Accidents can easily be reduced simply by being responsible for yourself and not driving if you are not fit to drive at the moment, driving safely, and following all traffic laws when behind the wheel can and will save lives. To reduce the number of driving-related deaths everyone needs to abide by the laws because anything could happen on the road but if you are taking the right legal steps in driving you are a part of the solution to making the road safer for everyone.
