Drivers Education

Driving is already dangerous, which is why its important to understand and obey the rules by following traffic laws and being aware as you’re driving. As well as having basic knowledge about the roads and keeping the other drivers in mind.

There are many great drivers out there but that wont prevent you from ever being in a car wreck. You can be the best driver and your city and get into a car a wreck just because someone else doesn’t have the same level of driving skills as you.

This brings me to the topic of how we as a society can reduce the number of deaths when it comes to driving, we can avoid this problem by practicing your driving even if you think its already mastered, avoid any use of drugs in a car weather you’re driving or not, try not to drive at night because you would have a higher risk of running into impaired drivers.

Taking these steps can help us all in bettering the driving community and reduce the number of deaths involved in accidents. Speaking from experience, car accidents are something no one should have to experience, it can leave you traumatized, injured, long term mental and emotional health conditions including anxiety and depression.

Ive been in one car crash myself that has left me with slight PTSD after having almost been T-Boned when me and my family we’re heading to Florida and we were at a red light and my dad assumed we could take a left on the light but as he started turning, my mom said no we cant there is no sign, it had been too late and there was a truck coming at least 60 mph straight for us.

Unfortunately it was coming straight at me where the very back seat was and I had no idea in the moment what was happening until I heard my Tia start yelling. Thats when I looked out my window to see the truck coming. We ended up getting hit but I was lucky enough because the truck was already slowing down.

My own experience in a minor incident was enough to leave me with trust issues of whos driving the car im in, another irresponsible driver ive encountered was when I was staying over at my cousins house and we came back from a birthday party, my Tio had been drinking all night and though I was aware that he shouldnt be driving we couldnt do anything to stop him. As we were almost to their house finally there was a GMC Yukon that stopped in front of us out of nowhere, my tio then proceeded to honk at them and go around them while using profanity.

The GMC started following us and flicking us off, as for my tio he didnt help desculate the situation as he started honking at them and cutting them off. I wanted to immediately leave as everyone was yelling at each other and throwing watter bottles at each others car. We had to tell him to not drive home because the GMC was following us for about 5 minutes already as there were 3 men in the vehicle.

At this moment I was scared for my life because we had no idea if those men would keep following us or if they had a weapon or had any intention to harm us. After a while finally, we stopped two houses down and got dropped off. The car then drove ahead of my tio and he said to go home and he took off behind them.

Through this experience ive learned that I have to be cautious of who I get in the car with even if its my own family or friends and how to at least try and deescalate the situation before something worst could end up happening. Therefore some steps I can take for my future self when driving is to be patient, we aware of my surroundings, and not to drive when im feeling anxious or mad and avoid angry drivers. Lastly another way I can help others become safer on the road such as my tio is to tell them what their doing wrong or where they messed up, give them advice, remind them of the basic driving rules.

With these little steps we can make the society as a whole better and more aware when driving which can then reduce car deaths.
