The Importance of Being a Well Informed Driver
Driving Is one of the most used skills for Americans here in the United States, with many people relying on driving as their main source of transportation. This, however, does not mean that everyone on the road is a responsible driver. Many people seem to forget the responsibilities that every person has when taking up the wheel, which in turn increases the chances of an accident occurring. That’s why it’s important for every driver to stay informed about the rules of the road at all times.
Driver education is very important when driving a vehicle of any sort. An uninformed driver is a dangerous driver for both himself and those around him. That’s why there are rules and regulations that require drivers to learn about the laws of the road before even being able to get a driver’s license. It’s also important to continue to increase your driver’s education even after obtaining a license, since the rules of the road are not certain to stay the same Since states sometimes change their regulations when it comes to driving. That’s why it’s always in your best interest to refresh your memory every few months when it comes to your driver education.
There are a variety of other steps that you can take to make sure you stay safe while on the road. Make sure you are physically and mentally able to drive before getting into the vehicle. You should also always make sure that your vehicle is properly operational when you plan to drive. Next you should make sure your mirrors are properly adjusted so you can view what’s going on both behind and around you. Lastly, make sure you and your passengers are buckled up before hitting the road.
We should also remember the dangers that can arise from uneducated drivers. Drivers that don’t know the rules of the road have a higher chance of getting into car collisions which could result in serious physical injuries or even death to both themselves and others in an accident. There are a variety of steps we can all take to help decrease the number of car-related deaths when driving. You should always follow the rules of the road wherever you drive. You should also try to be patient when driving and not rush yourself or the people around you. Lastly, you should also report any dangerous drivers you see on the road to the police or any other proper authority to help keep out dangerous individuals from the road and hopefully stop an accident before it occurs.
I have also experienced the dangers of irresponsible driving recently during my driving test. After arriving at the DMV and showing the proper paperwork, I met my driving examiner for the day and went back to my family’s car to actually begin the test. I was pretty nervous both before and during the actual test, but I felt confident that I could pass thanks to all the practice and studying I did for the last few months. After driving around for a while, I ended up on a main street with a lot of car activity and pedestrians around. I was going the speed limit and was making sure to watch my surroundings when I saw a vehicle on a secondary road making its way to the main road I was in. As I was driving down the main street and getting closer to the vehicle when I suddenly saw the car try to enter my lane as I was about to pass them. I kept driving straight, not knowing how to react and braced for the impact. After feeling the hit on my vehicle, I immediately pressed on the brakes and tried to stay calm during the situation. I later found out that the person in the other vehicle did not check if the lane I was in was clear and entered the lane which then caused the collision. Everyone in the end thankfully made it out of the crash without any injuries, and I was even able to get my license after making it back to the DMV.
I believe that everyone on the road should try to remember that driving is a privilege, not a right. No matter how much you’ve driven or how skilled you are, you should always follow the rules of the road. No phone call or event is worth risking your life when you’re behind the wheel. It’s also important to stay well-informed of the rules and regulations wherever you drive and when visiting new locations. By following these principles, you will help keep both yourself and your fellow drivers safe while on the road.
