Have you ever found yourself in a car accident because of an inexperienced driver? It’s a daunting thought, isn’t it? Just imagine how many mishaps could be prevented with stronger, more confident driving skills. The importance of comprehensive driving education cannot be overstated—it could make all the difference on the road! Driver education is vital for reducing driving-related deaths. It teaches essential skills for safe driving and helps make our streets safer. You should not be on the road without proper driving education, as it is unsafe for you and others. Knowing how to operate a vehicle is essential; otherwise, you wouldn’t know how to start the car or navigate without hitting something immediately. But for those who can drive and are legally allowed to do so, some of them aren’t responsibly caring for their safety or others’ safety on the road. Effective driver education must be better instilled in drivers to ensure safety and responsibility on the road. Qualified drivers should not let unqualified individuals take control of their vehicle, as it puts both parties in danger. Driving tests should include detailed questions covering various scenarios encountered on the road. These should include how to handle driving in rain or snow, what to do when stopped by a police officer, and the rules for right-of-way situations.

The steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving are simple and easy. First, we should improve driving education for new drivers and require current drivers to take a refresher test on road rules. New drivers and those registering in a new state should take reminder tests. These tests will ensure that they are aware of the different driving laws in their new state, whether those changes are significant or minor. Increase enforcement by patrolling roads and establishing a dedicated division for road safety and crime. Third, we should implement higher fines and stricter penalties for those who are caught driving unsafely. Additionally, an optional fourth step would be to introduce driving safety education in schools, starting in 8th grade or late middle school. This initiative highlights the importance of safe driving for teens, helping them develop awareness for when they start driving.

I have been in a car crash twice and have experienced irresponsible driving from my friends and family members. The first time I was in a car crash, I was riding in the back seat of my mom’s old car. We were stopped at a wreck when another driver mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brakes, crashing into our car. The second time I was in a car crash, I was driving. The driver in front of me suddenly stopped due to the traffic ahead, causing me to rear-end his van and total my car. Several of my friends and family members drive irresponsibly, often exceeding the speed limit or making sharp turns and sudden stops. Their driving habits can make me feel uncomfortable, especially when they brake late, for instance. I receive constant notifications from a family location tracker about a family member driving above the safe speed limit. Unfortunately, they even drive like this during short trips.

To become a better and safer driver, as well as to help others stay safe on the road, I can follow some simple steps. First, I will always follow traffic laws, including obeying traffic lights, road signs, speed limits, and signals. Staying focused on the road while driving and avoiding distractions is my next priority. The third step is to practice defensive driving by keeping a safe distance from the car ahead and checking blind spots. Maintaining my car’s health is crucial to prevent sudden breakdowns and ensure safety when needed. To help others, I can serve as a good example while driving. If I’m in the car with someone who’s driving recklessly, I will politely correct their behavior. Additionally, I can inform them about issues with their car, like a broken light, missing documents, or a non-functional horn. These issues could be dangerous for them or potentially get them in trouble with the law.

In summary, driver education is vital for safety, as teaching fundamental skills can help prevent fatalities related to driving. The irresponsible actions of certain licensed drivers underscore the necessity for enhanced education and stricter law enforcement. To bolster safety, new drivers ought to undergo refresher tests, and educational institutions might implement driving safety classes. Having experienced two accidents myself due to reckless driving, I understand the significance of practicing safety. To improve my driving, I will adhere to traffic regulations, maintain focus, and assist others by addressing unsafe driving practices and vehicle concerns.
