Making Driving Safer

Driving can be
fun, but it is also very dangerous. Each year, almost 1.25 million
people die in car crashes (Road Safety Facts). This is why everyone
needs to take drivers ed. Drivers ed is a class
that teaches people about the safety of driving and the skills to
become better drivers. It should prepare people to become more
educated and safe drivers. If people become more safe drivers, then
it will be a reduction in the number of deaths. However, most deaths
that are resulted from car accidents come from teens. According to
the AAA, the number of teen crash rates and the number of traffic
tickets reduced by 4.3 percent because of drivers ed.

Personally, I
have never been in a car accident and I hope not to. Although, I have
seen many on highways and I always hope that they are okay. There
have been multiple times when a family member or friend of mines has
driven irresponsibly. For instance, driving faster than the speed
limit, driving while using their phones, and trying to eat while
driving are the biggest things.

Many steps can
be taken to reduce the number of deaths / to be a better and safer
driver:

  • Always pay
    attention to your surroundings

  • Drive the
    speed limit

  • Don’t
    allow distractions to intervene

  • Don’t
drive while you’re intoxicated or under the influence of drugs

  • Always
    wear seatbelts

  • No usage
of phones (No texting and driving)

  • Get plenty
    of rest before driving
