The Art of Defensive Drivng

Safe driving is a crucial part of our day-to-day lives. Driving is
such a casual part of our lives, yet driving is the most dangerous
thing most people do each day. Vehicular accidents happen for many
different reasons including distracted driving, bad weather, and
negligence. Many people do not realize just how dangerous driving is.
That’s where the importance of drivers ed shines. Without
proper drivers ed, people will never be made aware of the
dangers of driving. The first step that must be taken is more
thorough road education throughout the whole country. When people are
made aware of just how dangerous driving can be, they will be more
likely to drive more safely. I believe people should have to attend a
road safety course every five years or so. This is also important
because when new driving practices are introduced, there are no ways
for the government to introduce and instruct drivers in the new
practices. I have never been in a bad car accident, but two of my
best friends were because the driver was not paying attention. It was
very scary and it made me realize just how dangerous a few seconds of
distracted driving can be. Since that day, I have been extra cautious
on the road. I was always taught that I must be a defensive driver.
The only way to protect yourself on the road is to be defensive. You
always must be looking out for recklessness from other drivers. If
everyone is a defensive driver, we will have safer roads and safer
communities. If everyone is a defensive, aware driver, there will be
accidents and therefore less deaths.
