The
world we live in has many dangers lingering throughout it. From the
threats of war, to animal’s gone rapid our planet is home to many
ways to end life. Day after day we hear stories of people dying by
their own hands, to dying by another’s. However, it’s our own
roads that seems to be the cause of death that happens on a daily
basis. Casualties on the road happen to often that most of us write
it off as merely a fact of life when in actuality our moral compass
begins to deteriorate each time we even hear such a thing like a
roadside casualty. The American road should not be a place where
families are torn apart or where people’s lives are lost. The road
should serve as a place we go to in order to travel and nothing more.

There
are countless ways to ensure that we are all safe on the road but the
most basic of ways to do so is to leave whatever distractions you
have in your car away from you like a cell phone. Texting while
driving is a big killer on the roads and has 1 in every 4 car
accidents become the cause for it. Cell phones have become a booming
industry in America now, everyone cannot survive in this modern world
without one anymore. This comes at a price however, our one tool for
survival has become our number one distractor in real life and on the
road. The problem lies in the phone itself being a living distraction
with notifications and buzzing. Car crashes happen because of these,
we need to turn off your phone when you step in the driver’s seat,
because that message you just sent could always be your last.

Personally
I have had many family members of mine get into car accidents but
never been fatally wounded before. Luckily for my brother, he has
never been hurt badly in a car accident. He has been through 4
accidents and 3 cars were lost thanks to those accidents. About half
of those accidents were not his fault and he was able to get his
insurance to assist him get new cars. However, had the people who hit
him had been paying attention to the road then perhaps he would not
have lost so many cars. Again, this isn’t as serious as other
people who have lost their lives on the road but he has been able to
escape with knowledge of what to do to prevent this from happening.
Now as his little brother I hope I can be able to not get in 4
accidents on the road, I have not yet begun driving full time but I
already understand that to become a safe driver you need to have
focus and knowledge. You must be knowledgeable about the rules of the
road or else the car you are in will end up like a coffin on a wagon.

The
roads of America are a wild stretch of land that expands across the
entire country. In many ways the roads of America are more dangerous
than most guns or even criminals. People die every day in car
accidents and it’s up to us, the future, to prevent any more deaths
by being educated in the rules of the road and by staying focused
away from al the distractions of the modern day. It is a tough thing
to do but I know that we can do it, I know that the youth of the
modern day can help save lives as long as we are educated.
