There are many
reasons people take drivers ed. Some do just to get their license and
start driving. Some do it because they are forced to. Then there some
who take it to learn the importance of road safety and safe driving.
In drivers ed, we are taught of the importance of safe driving. This
includes not being on your phone when you are driving, don’t have
any distractions while driving; including eating, drinking, loud
music, being on your phone, etc.

The most deaths on
the road are caused by people who aren’t paying attention to the
road. Some quick and easy steps can help reduce the amount of car
accidents and deaths while driving. These include: putting your phone
down until you arrive at your destination, pay attention to your
surroundings, listen to quiet or medium volume music, brake and
accelerate safely, and many others.

I have personally
been in a car accident where someone wasn’t paying attention to the
road. I wasn’t driving, but I was in the passenger seat. My mom and
I were driving to go to eat, and she wasn’t paying attention at a
red light. She saw car movings out of the corner of her eye and she
assumed it was safe to go. She then slammed into the car in front of
us. It wasn’t a bad accident, but I learned that day that no matter
what, you need to pay attention to your surroundings at all times.

We can make the
roads a safer place to be for everyone, but we need to work hard to
make it happen. Putting our phones away while we are on the road,
paying attention to the road and other cars, and don’t eat and
drink until you arrive to your destination.
