Educating New Drivers

Drivers
education is a very important program because it allows students to
practice responsible driving under supervision and drive in strict
accordance with the laws of driving. By having students practice
under supervision and become more comfortable with the driving laws
and driving in general, they are safer drivers. To help reduce the
number of driving deaths more steps such as educating new drivers of
the laws and the fines for disobeying the laws, require new drivers
to log more driving hours with an experienced individual that is
licensed, and even enforce stricter safe driving laws and up the
penalty consequences for driving unsafe. I understand the importance
of safe driving because, as well as seeing and hearing about them, I
have been involved in a car crash before. When we crashed it was
about 16 years ago. My family and I were headed to a birthday party
for my little brother. He was turning one year old and we were going
to go meet up with friends and family. On our way there, we were hit
by an oncoming semi-truck that lost control in the winter weather,
this resulted in our car upside down and spun out. This vehicle crash
was a traumatic moment for our family, luckily nobody was hurt and
all four of us walked away with minimal injuries. At that time, it
was easy to see how important it is to have safer and better drivers.
When I took a drivers ed course a few years ago before I got
my license, I knew that I had learned tips and tricks to stay safe on
the road, some of which many did not learn about. Just by finishing
this class, I need to become more educated on the laws and safety, as
well as becoming confident in myself as a new driver. To ensure that
I become a safer driver, I can remember to pay attention only to the
road, always wear my seatbelt, and remember to lock away my phone
while I drive. To help others around me, I can remind them of the
dangers of not following the laws and make sure that when I am with
them in the car to speak up about wrongful activities that they may
partake in while driving. Something has to change to help all drivers
all over the country, educating is one of the most important steps to
help create safer drivers.
