Any
individual who has the legality to be behind a wheel must know all
precautions that go with the privilege of driving. There are many
ways a person can be safe and limit the chances of a car accident. I
believe this knowledge is super important when being on the road
while yours and others lives are at risk. People must understand how
vital it is to know how to stay away from reckless driving and the
effect it has on those around you. It leads to victims losing their
lives because someone simply chose to not obey the law.

You
can start being smart in your drivers ed by not being a
distracted driver. This is one of the leading causes to car accidents
because of the lack of focus on the road. Having both hands on the
wheel and keeping your eyes on the road seems like a given for being
a driver, but it happens less often than you would think. This
includes no texting, eating, etc. all while driving. Another
important way to reduce the number of deaths on the road would be
watching your speed. High speeds lead to having a slower reaction
time in the case of a sudden stop like a stop sign or a traffic
light. Speeding means a stronger impact if you were to come in
contact with another car in a wreck. This puts you and everyone at
risk on the road which is why drivers ed is crucial to
lowering the number of deaths caused by car accidents.

Fortunately,
I personally have not been in a car accident that was life
threatening or caused major damage. However, I have been in the car
when a small accident happened, for instance, getting hit by another
car in the rear bumper. This was due to their lack of attention to
their surroundings and it led to not stopping their car in time. I
have seen irresponsible driving with family and friends, however. I
have witnessed an immense amount of cell phone use while driving and
also other fidgeting in the vehicle that interfered with the act of
driving. I try to remind the ones around me when I see this that it
comes with horrible effects and that one small move can change
everything. I would never want any distraction in the car made by
someone I love lead to them losing their life. There are so many ways
to avoid the chance of a car wreck and everyone should comprehend
this and take it very seriously.

For
myself, I can also take many precautions to be safer in a vehicle. I
could have a lower volume when playing music to help divert my
attention back to the road and I could make sure that my cell phone
is not in reach to make sure I don’t have the temptation to pick it
up while driving. I would like to help others learn these things by
sharing these tips on social media and spreading them to those at my
school and work. The more people can see how critical drivers’
education is means less people will be killed due to careless
driving.
