Imagine what we
would see

If we were in the
car phone free.

We’d see the
birds, we’d see the sky,

And maybe start
to wonder why

Everyone is so
obsessed.

Can’t they give
their phones a rest?

What a shame to
want to hear

Every video so
clear.

Life’s outside
the car window.

But we bend our
necks to our screens so low.

There’d be less
wrecks if we would observe

Bumps in the
road, traffic and curbs.

We force the
government to make laws

So we don’t all
wreck and break our jaws.

We make them make
laws for everything we do

And then complain
when they harass me and you.

If we were
texting and saw a nearby cop

Do you think that
then we’d stop?

More tickets and
higher fines

Is that what we
had in mind?

It’s not just
our texting we need to talk about.

It’s always
using our phones when we drive on our route.

We don’t care
if a family’s in the car ahead

As long as our
Facebook gets read.

Would changing
laws save any lives

Or would phone
withdrawal give us hives?

Higher
deductibles and injuries

It would have
been better to look at the trees.
