In
the process of obtaining a driver’s license the state that you live
in will require you to go to drivers ed classes. In the classes
the instructor will teach you not only the road laws, do’s and
don’ts, but also show graphic videos to show the consequences of
not practicing safe driving. These videos often use scare tactics to
scare new drivers into practicing safe driving, this includes the
consequences of texting and driving, speeding, and driving under the
influence. Although it is difficult to estimate the true numbers of
how many accidents and death these videos reduce, it is important to
show these videos because they still have the potential to reduce the
amount of accidents and deaths. Personally, I have been impacted by
these videos and they certainly made an impression on me and caused
me to practice safe driving for not only my safety, but for also the
safety of my passengers, other drivers, and pedestrians. I am
thankful for not experiencing any car accidents, either being the
driver or passenger. However, I have seen family members driving
irresponsibly, this includes speeding and texting and driving. For
myself, I try my best to remember the steps of driving safe and
remember the videos I was shown in drivers ed. I always keep my
family in my head so I can always drive safe.
