Top 3 things to become a better driver
I
personally took drivers ed and am 100% sure that I wouldn’t be the
same driver today if I hadn’t taken drivers ed. I believe that it
taught me many things such as what to do in different driving
conditions, how to park in different types of parking spots, what to
do if you start hydroplaning, and how to correctly change lanes.
What
steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving?
In order to reduce the number
of deaths related to driving I believe we need to take many of the
precautions listed down below. Starting with requiring that all
drivers take driver ed so they can be safe drivers on the road. One
thing that I see on the road a lot which I believe should be more
emphasized is how to use the turn signal correctly. There are three
types of drivers on the road: driver type one uses it as they are
supposed to; driver type two even after they turn or change lanes
leaves it on for many miles after; and driver type 3 just doesn’t
use their turn signal at all, like there is no such thing as a turn
signal. Another thing I think we need to change to make it more safe
on the road is to inform more on is the distance there should be
between cars whether at the stopped speed or driving speed. There
have been many times where I have left plenty of room between me and
the car in front of me and the person behind me gets so close I can
almost see up their nose. I do remember driving distance being
covered but it was covered so little that I don’t believe anyone
remember and believe me if someone were to actually remember
something taught it would have been me. A third thing that I believe
we need to teach more on not using cell phones while driving. I get
it, I’m a teenager too but I would hope you value your life more
than sending a text message to that cute crush. That cute crush can
wait, trust me your guardians would terribly miss you if you were
gone. There have been way too many crashes which led to death that
happened because one of the drivers was on their phone. Being on
your phone while driving impairs you to where your brain is forced to
multitask which in most cases doesn’t have a good outcome. Now I’m
sure we all have those people in our life that are on their phone and
drive including our role models but their could be fatal ending if
you were to text and drive like your role model. Also maybe they
aren’t such a great role model for you if they are showing you
fatal habits. So in conclusion be driver type one. Don’t be the
driver that makes the rest of us drivers frustrated with your turn
signal usage or lack of.
