Driving Safely : A mission

second. It takes one second for a life to end. It takes one second to
put a multitude of people in grief. One second. Think, how can this
issue be avoided. A drivers ed should be an essential part
of society. Nearly 1.25 million people die each year because of
mistakes. These mistakes could have been avoided. When I was younger
I was in a car accident. I was living in Jamaica at the time and I
was carpooling to swim practice. The lady driving ended up driving
through the glass doors at the entrance of the pool. I recall I was
sitting by the door and the window was down. A few pieces of glass
embraced my skin, however, I was fine. I was lucky. Many people don’t
get to say the same thing. There are people that get impacted by
drunk driving, driving while under the influence of drugs, and
texting and driving. All these things should not be a reason why
someone’s life is taken. So, how do we resolve this ongoing
problem? We do that by educating. We do that by spreading the word
about driving safely through the media, commercials, schools, etc.
Driving Education should be an essential part of high schools. I
believe that because many impressionable kids in high school are
learning to drive. Spreading the word about driving safely and
teaching young people the right way to drive are steps toward
reaching the goal of safety on the road. While driving people should
be aware of the weather and their surroundings. People should employ
what they have learned and follow the driving rules. Also, people
should not have their phones on while driving. No distractions should
be around a person that is driving. There are apps that should be
used to help with this situation. For example, certain apps do not
allow you to answer your phone while you are driving, in addition,
texts. This one thing could save hundreds of lives. Like I said
previously before, it takes one second for someone’s world to turn
completely upside down. However, there is a way to prevent these
tragic things from happening.
