Questions:
What is the importance of drivers ed in reducing the number
deaths as a result of driving? What steps can be taken to reduce the
number of deaths related to driving? Have you ever had an experience
of being in car accident or have seen your friends or family members
driving irresponsibly? What steps can you take to be a better and
safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road?

Driver
education provides needed training with an experienced driver to help
reduce the occurrence of accidents. There are a number of steps that
can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving. The
most important is the need for more hours of training time for new
drivers, with experienced drivers, before a driving permit is issued.
Experience and time behind the wheel training before a permit is
issued would assist the most in reducing deaths related to driving.

I
have been in a few accidents. Most of these were caused by people not
paying attention to their driving. They would be considered
distracted drivers. One person fell asleep in the middle of the day
and hit my vehicle head on. I was in a large vehicle and he was in a
smaller truck. Had either he or I been in smaller cars there is a
good possibility that one of us could have died. I did everything I
could to avoid the accident, limiting my injuries, and his. I’m
sure he learned never to drive when tired from that experience, we
were both fortunate.

Paying
attention to my surroundings when driving, slowing down as I enter
intersections, and setting a good example with my defensive driving
skills is a step in the right direction. This type of driving will
serve as an example to anyone who passengers in my vehicle on how to
be an attentive, defensive driver. It could save a life.
