Education Leads Saftey

The importance of drivers ed will not only reduce the number of deaths but will also spread awareness to people and will encourage the community to be safer drivers. Taking what I have learned from my peers and family members, I have come to think of a few steps that could be taken to reduce the number of deaths when driving. Though, I have never been in an accident, I have heard of people who have and what caused the crash.

Six million deaths are caused by unsafe driving each year. Many of those deaths are due to drunk driving and lack of education when it comes to driving. Those who are intoxicated and have car crashes are most likely alone when it happens. Someone who is intoxicated should at least have a partner that will look after them when they aren’t sane. In regard to new drivers, a curfew for people under 18 should be given so accidents could be prevented. They would also be less at risk to be hit by a drunk driver. More experienced drivers, those who have their license are also at the same risk as new drivers. Their confidence in driving is developed to the point where they trust more in themselves than the rules for the road. Things like texting, eating, and applying makeup have become common nowadays. Unknown medical conditions can also be a cause of accidents if one isn’t aware of their own body. Reviewing the laws should be done by drivers every six months is important because forgetting about the rules of driving can be easy once someone drives occasionally. Taking yearly examinations to ensure they don’t have any medical problems that could cause them to have a car accident or provoke one.

Thankfully, I haven’t been in an accident because my family have always made sure they set a good example of driving. When driving, following the rules is best for everyone even if one is confident that they drive well. After receiving a driver’s liscense, it is still important to cherish the education of driving for the safety of one’s self and others.
