Why Drivers Ed Knowledge is Important
Why Drivers Ed Knowledge is Important
The importance of drivers ed in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving is very high. When going through the drivers ed course it is made very clear that accidents happen often especially in youth. The course reviews many reasons the accidents occur. By doing this, students really understand that they should not do those things to keep themselves and others safe. Students especially understand the severity of unsafe driving leading to accidents when photos of accidents are shown. This makes high percentages of students who take the information and drive safe which lowers accident rates.
Steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving are making sure that all people attend a well detailed class on drunk driving and safety courses, continue campaigns to end cell phone use while driving, and having a breathalyzer in the car. By making sure people take a detailed class on the effects of drinking and driving and proper safety it could increase the rates of safe driving. Campaigns such as billboards, commercials, and radio station reminders can help reduce the use of cell phone use. Even making a better app that allows you to temporarily not be able to use your phone until you are done driving or your vehicle comes to a stop for safety. Having a breathalyzer in a car can reduce drunk driving. The drivers will have to take the breathalyzer test before starting their vehicle letting them know they should not be driving.
I have not had the experience of being in a car accident and have not seen a friend or family member drive irresponsibly but I have seen reckless driving around me while in a vehicle and stories of my friends driving irresponsibly. While in a car on the way home a vehicle was driving at a very high speed and suddenly slowing down next to our vehicle trying to race us. The vehicle was speeding up with us and slowing down with us. After about 10 minutes of waiting for the vehicle to pass it decided to speed away. The next morning on the news that same vehicle had crashed on the side of the road and was revealed to have had alcohol involved. I have also heard many stories of my friends not paying attention to their speed while driving.
The steps I can take to be a better and safe driver are to stay off my phone, do not drink and drive, keep my music at a good level and not to loud, avoid having distractions in my vehicle, wear my seatbelt, and continue to follow the speed limits posted.
