Message Failed to Deliver

My name is Alex Hodges. I have had wonderful parents who gave their best effort to help me be a good driver. They were hard on my mistakes but provided meaningful explanations. They have one issue that can be dangerous to their lives and others’. They text and drive a lot due to being on call for their jobs twenty-four seven. It seems that every time they drive I have to remind them to put the phone down. I understand that they have to put food on my table, but road safety is more important at the time behind the wheel.

Drivers ed can help people like my parents by fitting time into their classes to preach the dangers of texting and driving. The class is important for the safety of new drivers so, in the age of cell phones, class time should be taken for this issue. When I took the drivers ed course, the teacher explained the dangers of texting and driving, but it was brief and not on any tests while drugs and alcohol took up sixty to seventy percent of total class hours. Although I agree that avoiding alcohol before getting behind the wheel is important, some parts of the lesson were unnecessary to the overall lesson.

The drivers’ and passenger’s safety are important at all times. Texting and driving is a chronic issue that can be avoided. Although I have taken steps to prevent it by telling people I know to stop, it must be a group effort.
