The Impact of Driver Safety
Being educated in the rules of the road, being an insightful person, and having common sense and courtesy are such important attributes in becoming a good and safe driver. Taking driver education is such an important step and is a factor that helps in developing the desirable qualities and habits of a driver. Driver education is so important because it not only teaches you the rules of the road but it also teaches you the consequences of bad driving habits and helps to correct them so that you won’t have to deal with fixing bad habits in the future. One of the most important things driver education teaches is who has the right of way. Often times, paths of other vehicles and pedestrians intersect with each other and therefore creates conflict. Learning who has the right of way allows drivers to develop courtesy for others, which is the first step to becoming a good driver.
Driving is something that should be taken in a very serious manner and there are no opportunities for people to neglect the safety of themselves and other people. Every day, there are accidents caused by automobiles that are mostly due to the driver’s ignorance of the rules. Driver education goes into the topic of how to prevent accidents on the road. There are a number of ways to do so, but some important ones are avoiding distractions, such as your phone, avoiding depressants, such as alcohol and certain drugs, and obeying all traffic rules. In remembering driver safety, you prevent accidents from happening to other people as well as yourself.
Personally, I’ve never been in a car accident or have witnessed a car accident and hope to never get involved in one, each of my immediate family members have gotten into very minor accidents, even though the accident was not their fault. And even though it was minor, each of them still said that it was an alarming experience. It took a very long time to sort things out with the other drivers and get the cars fixed. My two cousins have also gotten into car accidents multiple times with the damage on their cars being very visible. My uncles and grandparents were furious at their inability to drive safe and because it took a lot of money for the repairs. Both my cousins and family’s experience showed me that getting involved in an accident is a lot of work and is not something that should be taken lightly.
Everybody has a different pace in which they can adapt to driving relatively smoothly. For some, its a very easy process, but of others, it can be a long challenge. Nonetheless, there are ways that both drivers with plenty of experience and drivers who have just gotten behind the wheel can take in order to become a better driver. One important tip is to constantly look ahead not just at the car in front of you, but also the upcoming area so you can prepare ahead of time for anything that happens. Another important tip is to know your car. Knowing how your car accelerates and brakes, handles different terrain, and how you should position yourself are very important things to remember and will help you stay confident when driving. Probably the most important tip is to stay calm while driving. Driving on a road with dozens of other cars can be scary and many people can be rude. Its important to realize that you can drive at your own pace, following the speed limit of course, regardless of what other people think. By driving at your own pace, you in fact avoid making mistakes, such as speeding or making unnecessary turns. It also allows you to plan ahead while allowing you to continue your drive.
Although there is a lot to remember while driving, remembering to stay patient and determined during the driving process will allow you to become the best driver you can possibly be. Remembering the rules of the road and having courtesy for others are very important qualities to have and driver education is the first step to acquiring those qualities.
