Watch the Road

Watch the Road.

The importance of driver education in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving, is that with proper education on driving many of the deaths can be prevented. Driving education is important because people who get their license without taking education courses will not know all the information of driving, the road, and other drivers around them. I think there is importance in people seeing statistics because it shows how scary of a reality it is that you could end up dying every time you get in a car to leave your house. Safe driving isn’t just on the person driving the car, but also the people driving around them, or knowing what to do when there is ice, weather conditions, deer or car malfunctions. Safe driving can be used to reduce the number of deaths if we take the drivers safety course. I think the course should be mandatory every 5 to 10 years as death rates continue to get higher. The recklessness and irresponsibility of people driving cars can be concerning, but some accidents are just accidents. I have noticed however that many people tend to look at their phones while driving. I am sure that looking at your phone while driving is what causes many of the accidents we see on the road today. Having a distraction with you at all times makes it difficult to focus on what you need to see right in front of you. The irresponsibility of looking at your phone while driving shows that you don’t care for your life, or the other drivers around you as there is a possibility of an accident for every second you aren’t looking at the road. I have been in accidents where people have backed into the car, never a collision but I have seen them on the road. The steps I personally take to ensure that I am a safe driver is to never look at my phone while driving, if I am by myself in the car I will not check my phone until I get to my destination. If another person is in the car with me and I feel the message is urgent I will have them check for me. If I am ever placed in a car with an unsafe driver, who checks their phone or is driving recklessly I always explain to them the dangers of hurting us. Safe driving is important to learn when you are first getting your instructional permit, and is a skill you must continue to master as you continue driving. Accidents will always happen, but some accidents can be prevented. Not looking at your phone while driving, not listening to music too loud, driving the speed limit, using appropriate headlights and turn signals, and looking at your surroundings for other drivers or deer is important for safe driving. When you’re in the car getting from point A to point B should be your priority with no casualties. We need to watch the road.
