Benefits of Driver Education

Driver education is critical in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving because people who take driver education are less likely to be involved in crashes or to receive a traffic violation during their first couple of years of driving. Taking lessons allows people to become more comfortable and confident behind the wheel. People will feel more safe driving, therefore will not be afraid to be driving on the road. Not only does driver’s education save people money on their premiums, but it also arms them with defensive driving techniques that may save lives, the lives of themselves, their passengers, or any other road user. They will also learn all of the road signs and how to approach any kind of situation that they might come across on the road.

Steps that you should be taking to reduce the number of deaths include: practicing as much driving as possible when learning. Always wear your safety belt, make it a habit of wearing a safety belt whenever they are in a car, whether as a driver or a passenger, increases your survival chances. Don’t drink and drive or consume illegal substances. Even if you consumed only one drink or smoked one joint, there is a chemical effect that can impair judgment and reaction time. Driving under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, or other drugs can cost you your license or your life. If they are a new driver, it is best to limit their number of passengers. The risk of a fatal crash increases with every additional passenger.

I have been in a car accident where I was the driver. After my friends and I went through a fast-food restaurant drive-thru, we pulled over into one of the parking spaces to make sure that we got our food. I noticed when we pulled in that the lady to the left of us had just started to pull out. I could not see her in my left window. So after we made sure we had all of our food, I looked behind me to start backing up. That is when I didn’t realize that the woman to my left only backed up partly out of the space and was just waiting there. I ended up hitting her, luckily there was only a small dent in her car, and no one got hurt. I then called my dad to help me out with the situation.

Steps that you can take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the roads include focusing on driving, keeping your attention and eyes on the road at all times, putting all distractions away, and focus on what is happening around you will prevent you from crashing. Another suggestion is to plan ahead. You can avoid traffic by waking up a little bit earlier in the day to leave extra time for travel. Lots of people are always running late, which can cause high speeds and distracted driving. By planning, it will help you slow down, giving yourself extra time in case there are accidents on the road. Another recommendation is maintaining the speed limit. If you are speeding, it may cause damage to your car if an accident would occur. Road rage can also cause unnecessary accidents by taking a deep breath and cool down before taking out your anger on the road or other drivers around you will reduce the number of crashes.

In conclusion, driver safety courses are a crucial part of learning how to drive. It provides a new driver with necessary steps in preventing or causing a car crash or death.
