Did you know that you can decides someone else’s fate by a decision you make? Most people see driving as a normal daily activity when it could be devastating. There are many consequences when you lack knowledge about driving and drive recklessly. Having the education you need to know how to drive is crucial for the driver’s safety and for the rest of the people on the road. Many studies have shown that people who take courses and lessons when learning how to drive are better and safer at driving than people who just do 50 hours on their own. This reduces the amounts of death since more people will be safer on the road.

Some of the most devastating deaths happen on the road. Being aware of your surroundings and feeling comfortable driving are two crucial factors you will need when driving. The first step that can be taken to decrease the amount of deaths on the road is to change the way people learn how to drive. Extending the program and adding more features will help people understand the road and feel comfortable. For example, when learning how to drive, it should also be mandatory to take driving lessons for two weeks to make sure you are comfortable on the road. Although it is mandatory to have 50 driving hours before you get your drivers license, it would be better if the person takes lessons by an instructor to make sure they get their hours truthfully. Another crucial step to being safe on the road is to never drive under the influence. Making sure you have a designated driver for the night is crucial since your life will depend on that person. If you drive while being under the influence, you will physically not be able to control how you drive since your vision will be impaired and you will not have control of your actions.

What does it take to become a better driver? The first step is to know the basics of driving and have the knowledge you need. Many teens learn how to drive but then forget the unnecessary details from their course. This causes many accidents since the knowledge they forget is what ends up being needed the most. Another step would be to make sure you feel comfortable driving alone. Being with passengers, like your parents, is always helpful when learning how to drive, but there will be a day that you will have to drive alone. Having the basic knowledge and being able to feel comfortable driving will give you the confidence you need. I have never been in a car crash but seeing one of my close friends be in car crash was shocking. She was driving safely when a reckless driver hit her on the left side of her car causing her car to spin. Getting a phone call from the hospital saying that your friend was in a serious car crash is the last thing you would want to hear. That is why enforcing more education before you start driving would be a good step in having safer drivers on the road.
