Drivers education

To emphasize the importance of driver’s education we must first look at what drivers’ education is. Drivers’ education are lessons that prepare new drivers for the different techniques of operating a motorized vehicle on a street or highway. Which includes different etiquette on how to share the road with other drivers. Poor driver education can lead to in-equipped drivers and more serious cases dangerous accidents. This is where the importance of driver’s education comes into play. To prevent these deaths that transpire from lack of quality drivers’ education, as a society we must stress the importance of quality education. There are several ways this but first address the issue of young drivers.

In such a advanced society such as this one technology is often at our fingertips. Most people use some form of technology every day. We have even gotten to a point were a number of people carry a electronic device everywhere they go. As a result, this has caused a lot of people to be more distracted as ever. Distracted driving has taken our nation by storm and people’s lives have been at stake because of it. To tackle this obstacle, we should address the issue directly from the manufacturer. ON any mobile device there should be a setting that prevents people from using it when they’re in a vehicle moving faster than 15 miles per hour. Of course, we’d have to take in account passengers so there would be a option to turn it of but the distracted driving mode should deter them from texting and driving.

Not only does technology cause distracted driving but there’s other ways people on the roads lives are at stake. This can include eating, smoking, and even talking to passengers can distract a driver from the task at hand. To solve these problems as a nation we can emphasize the importance to preventing these things form being a everyday practice. Discuss the harmful effects to new drivers so that they understand driving takes focus and maturity.

In my experience I have seen my friends fall victim to distracted driving. A couple months a go a friend of mine got in a accident because of this very thing. He was driving home late at night and was texting. All of a sudden, he ran a stop sign that was in the shadows. A car hit him from the left and he broke hid ribs. He then was put into a medically induced coma because he suffered form constant seizures. His car was totaled and although in the end he turned out to be fine he fears being in a car ever again. Though he is my friend I had wished he had practiced safe driving. His life wouldn’t have been at stake and his mental health wouldn’t be suffering as it still does today.

Similar to this I have experience this with my mom. I know she didn’t mean to put us in danger but she was on her phone texting my father that she had picked us up from daycare. From what I remember she typed maybe five words and a car swerved in front of us. My brother and I screamed in the back and she turned her steering wheel to try to move out of the way. In the process she hit a curb and that caused a instant flat tire. She called triple A and they arrived in half and hour. Luckily no one was hurt but my mom did feel bad for putting her kids in danger over a simple text. In instances like this one I like to quote the AT&T slogan that states “It can wait.” If a text or a phone call is so important simply pull over. It is not worth risking your life and others.

The steps I can take to be a better and safer driving is to limit my distractions. Every time I am about to drive my vehicle, I put my phone in my bag. I don’t drive and eat, and I don’t talk on the phone even though my car has a hands-free setting. Not only do I instill these practices with myself I educate my peers on the importance of them to. When I am a passenger in other cars, I don’t let them use their phone and I limit talking when I can. Educating one person at a time contributes to better and safer roads. Starting from the source, new drivers, we can ensure that the future of driving saves lives and prevents lasting injuries. With quality drivers’ education we can stop this “epidemic” and make the world safer for all.
