Driver’s Education is Saving Lives
Driver education is vital in order to decrease the number of casualties as a result from driving. More likely than not, you are going to be driving in your life so making sure you are educated in the rules of the road and are being taught the basics of driving and how to prevent accidents that can save you and maybe other people’s lives one day. It is crucial that people pass their driver’s test because the person and the everyone else on the road needs to feel safe that people know the basics of driving and are educated on how to prevent accidents just like them. The number one reason for accidents is human error and if you pay attention while in drivers’ education this can drastically decrease the number of fatalities from driving. Driver education can teach you multiple things about what to do when you encounter unknown roads which is critical for drivers to learn because when they set their mind to their destination sometimes their first option of getting there might not work out forcing them to take a detour in their route and travel onto new roads.
Some advancements that’s can be made to minimize the number of deaths related to driving are for people to stop driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. These things are a major problem that can affect your body mentally and physically in a negative way. When combined with driving it is not a good combination and because of how it slows down your reaction time and affects your vision you can cause a major accident that could end up killing you and maybe others. This is why even if you are under the influence, you can always ask a friend or family member to pick you up, uber or to stay at the place you are at are all easy solutions that can help save you and other people’s lives. Another issue that is present are distractions that are in your vehicle that can include your phone or the radio that can cause you to take your eyes of the road or hands of the wheel and can put you at risk of getting into an accident that can lead to hefty repercussions. Another issue that can minimize the number of deaths related to driving is road rage and impatience of drivers. This issue runs in my family and even though it is not extreme as some other peoples are, it is still important to be understanding of other drivers because they may be new to the roads or some may be of elderly age and people need to be patient in order to prevent unnecessary accidents. If people are able to follow all these rules everyone can get to their endpoints safely.
I have witnessed some of my family members drive irresponsibly on multiple occasions that could have led to fatal consequences if they were not paying attention to all their surroundings. My parents are known to get irritated very easily by other drivers so they sometimes get frustrated when they are driving and make risky decisions in order to pass the driver. The only ever near accident that I witnessed was when my dad and I were driving home from a football game and a car was driving in the other lane and suddenly went in ours heading directly toward us and my dad had to drive on the very right edge of the road to avoid the driver that was distracted on their phone. This experiences that I have witnessed have made me a better driver from learning other people’s mistakes and how just a hand-held device can be such a distraction for drivers and can cause accidents to occur. I wouldn’t ever want to be the reason that I injured someone or possibly killed them because I was distracted by my phone and their families would be devastated if their family member died.
Steps that I can take in order to become a better and safer driver as well others to become safer on the road are to become a defensive driver and always pay attention to things that occurring around you so you can make sure to save yourself in any situation if present that can end up saving you and the other driver. This means my phone is no wear visible to me and I have it on silent as well as my radio off to prevent any noise that may distract me from driving and put me at risk for an accident. I must also remain patient and calm during my driving and not let any emotions get out of hand as that can greatly affect my driving and increase the risk of an accident occurring. I will also to make sure that I feel comfortable of driving the car before leaving making sure I know where everything is located in the vehicle so I can alert other drivers of my actions and ensure myself that I am safe in any conditions.
