Even
though thousands of people die in car accidents every day, many of us
ignore warnings signs and end up multi-tasking while driving anyway.
Driving carefully and staying clear of all distractions while driving
is important so that the driver doesn’t end up hurting themselves
or others, thus reducing the number of driving related deaths.
According
to Pierson Sandra of Regen University, “85% of traffic crashes”
occur because of poor “driving behavior” unfortunately the
reality is that many people assume, they’re already ‘good
drivers’ and do not feel the need to self-reflect on their bad
driving habits. A few tips for being a sensible driver include: being
mindful of blind spots and drivers around you, obeying the speed
limits, being attentive, and leaving a safe braking distance from
cars in front of you. These tips could not only save lives but
educate drivers on the importance of safety and the dangers of
irresponsible driving behaviors. A few steps that can be taken to
reduce the number of driving related deaths is to educate others on
the safety tips listed above to set an example for younger
generations, another step would be to learn from other people’s
mistakes and not assume that it wouldn’t happen to you.
Although
I have never been in a car accident, I have witnessed some
irresponsible driving habits from my family members that could have
resulted into an accident if the circumstances were different. I have
seen them go over the speed limit, ignore blind spots, as well as
texting while driving. All these behaviors aren’t only dangerous
for the person driving but also the other passengers in the car and
other nearby drivers. The steps I could take to help my family become
better drivers is to have a serious talk about the dangers of
irresponsible driving habits and how they could result in death,
another step would be to express the importance of safety and having
that be a priority above everything else.
