My
name is Elizabeth Cormier I am a senior at Bay Path Regional
Vocational Technical High School studying Graphic Design. I plan on
continuing my study of Graphic Design at a 4-year university to help
me achieve my goal of one day becoming a Graphic Designer.
From
my perspective I believe driving education is important because often
at times operating a vehicle may be very in intimidating to any
person whether they are a new driver or not. Also, driving education
helps teach people how to safely operate a vehicle during all times
of the day and during many different weather conditions all year
round. It also stresses on the fact of property adjusting your seat,
mirrors, and steering wheel but most importantly it stresses on the
importance of wearing your seat belt and not using your cell phone
when operating a vehicle.
Although
there are many risks when operating a vehicle. Some of the most
common one would be distractions inside and outside of the vehicle
and the use of cell phones. However, we all can help and reduce. the
number of deaths related to driving by putting the phone down while
operating the vehicle, drive the speed limit, always wearing our
seatbelts, and avoid any substance that may cause a decreases
alertness and reduces motor coordination.
I
personally have never had the experience of being in a car crash, but
I have seen my father quit often go on his phone while he is driving.
Which tends to confuse me because he always tells me when I am
driving to not go on my phone and if I need to google maps something
to make sure my phone is mounted so I can glance at the map and still
see the road in front of me. I hope more in the future my father will
stop using his phone while driving and that he will take the advice
he gives me in.
Steps
that I can take to be a better driver are follow all the signs,
always use my blinker when needed, stay off my phone, drive the speed
limit, play music softly so I don’t get distracted, and make sure I
am safe and others are safe before moving my vehicle. I can help
others become safer on the road by informing them about the safety of
driving and encourage them to consider driving education.
Overall,
when operating a vehicle safety should always be the main priority
when it comes to yourself and others. I hope that I will be
considered for this scholarship but if I am not, I hope someone does
learn that safety is extremely important from my essay.
