Safe Driving means thriving

When operating a multi-thousand pound piece of machinery, it is exceedingly important to consistently drive responsibly as well as hold others accountable for driving safely. Driver education involves the manner in which a vehicle is operated, the maintenance of a vehicle, how to be safe when operating a vehicle, and being aware of traffic conditions and laws. It is becoming increasingly important to have driver education because of all the different factors around you while driving. Being knowledgeable in how to operate a vehicle is important. It is crucial to keep your vehicle in good condition and know when to get it checked out, as well as keeping up with regular maintenance, like oil changes. In terms of reducing the number of deaths, driver education is so important because each individual operating a vehicle has people who love and care about them. There are so many factors that can take a loved one away. For example, cancer, heart issues, aneurysms, etc. With all of the uncontrollable factors that can put someone to an ultimate end, doing your part to reduce fatalities is significant. It is essential to drive carefully and know the driver-world around you.

Driving safely is clearly very important when operating a vehicle. But what does “driving safely” really mean? Driving safely involves staying within the speed limit posted in the area you are driving, being aware of your surroundings, giving driving your undivided attention, and being knowledgeable in the area of street signs and traffic laws. It is important to stay within the limits of speed while operating a vehicle. Speed limits are put in place for a reason; to keep the people within a vehicle safe, but also others around. Speed limits are specifically put in place to keep people safe at a comfortable speed. While operating a vehicle, your eyes should always be watching the road in front of you and your hands should always stay on the wheel. You should always avoid multitasking while operating a vehicle. For example, you should refrain from eating and drinking as well as using your phone while driving. In today’s society, phones are clearly a large part of our lives. However, it is important, as well as lawful, to always refrain from using technology while driving. A safety belt should be worn by the driver as well as all of the members in the car. Drug and alcohol use is ILLEGAL and should never be used before, or during the time that one is operating a vehicle. Drug and alcohol use impair one’s ability to think and react. This increases the risk of accidents and fatality. If one does partake in drug or alcohol use, ensure that a designated driver is available to take you wherever you are going or make use of driving services, like Uber.

Personally, I have never experienced being in a car accident. However, I have been an observer of friends and family driving irresponsibly and being in a car accident as a result. There are consequences to all actions. Injury, fatality, and issues with the law are some possible consequences to irresponsible driving. It is tragic and painful to see not only family and friends, but also strangers get into car accidents. These things can be avoided with safe driving and having knowledge about driving conditions. To me, driving safely and being alert is very important so that injuries, accidents, and death are avoided. You are not able to control other drivers around you, but within the vehicle that you are operating, it is important to do all that you can so that accidents are prevented.

In order to be a better and safer driver, I know that I can work to follow speed laws and stay within the bounds of the limit. I know that I need to avoid all distractions and work to stay off of my phone while driving. While taking driver’s education classes in order to earn my permit, I made sure to pay attention during class. I was able to learn all about different street signs and how to drive safely. In order to help others become safer on the road, I drive the speed limit which may help to encourage other drivers to do the same, especially drivers that are behind me. When I am in a vehicle, but not the one driving, I make sure that whoever is driving stays off of their phone and avoids distractions. I would never get in the car with someone who would drive while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. I encourage others to do the same.
