Driver Education is Important

In America one of the most common deaths is caused by car accidents. Many people would assume that most American deaths are caused by war, violence, sicknesses, etc. But the reality is with all those combined, car accident deaths still occur significantly more. Car accidents should not be the main cause of death. Americans need to take action to reduce the amount of people that die every year. These deaths could happen to anyone whether it is a friend, family, colleague, etc. It ruins opportunities for those who get injured to a high extent

Driver education is an important course people take before they can get any license or permit. Driver education covers traffic laws, road safety, driver responsibilities, and how to avoid accidents at all costs. Even with knowledge drivers’ education makes available accidents still happen. Driver education is supposed to be something that if not stops completely prevents at least a little, but it has no effect on America. Due to driver education not influencing America, there should be steps taken to stop the excess amount of tragic accidents.

There are so many steps and actions people could take to reduce the number of deaths. Actions such as laws to take a new driver education test every time you go to renew your license should be put in place. This would cause less ignorant people on the road because those who fail would have their license suspended, creating a safer environment. If people refused to do this to keep the environment safe for all drivers, then they would have consequences. Another step of action Americans can take is limit those who get to drive. Many people who have their license whether they are young and excited to finally have freedom, or old and trying to get to where they need to be can drive carelessly and become a danger to everyone around them.

As that young driver who is excited about the freedom that comes with having your license, I know that everyone on the road could be a hazard and that driving is not as safe as I may think it is. To be a safer and a better driver for those around me I am aware of everything around me whether it is right next to me or way ahead of me. This would be helpful for others because most people think they need to only pay attention right next to them when your eyes should be paying attention to everything around. Distracted drivers are the main cause of accidents, so eliminating distractions will also be a step I take to try to keep a safe driving environment for me and those around me. People also do not control their emotions. When they are driving, they get mad at everything that may bother them on the road and that leads to angry driving, which is dangerous. The road would be safer if people knew how to stay calm and focused, keeping sadness and anger at bay.

I know from experience that driving has become extremely dangerous. There was a time when my dad was driving home from work, and he had a terrible experience with a person who was not a smart driver and very dense. As he was driving home, he was in front of a truck way bigger than his coupe. As they were driving the truck driver got very upset out of nowhere and proceeded to break check him. Due to it being so sudden and the size difference in cars my dad’s car went under the truck and caused his car to be completely totaled in the front. It caused a very scary situation for my family because someone so important to us didn’t come home at the time he usually does, and the only context to the delay was a picture of the accident. To this day my dad still has back problems from that accident that could’ve been prevented if people had learned to control their emotions.

Another time there has been a major accident in my family was when my aunt was in a car accident that almost killed her and my cousins along with her. She was pulling out onto an intersection when it was her turn to go and a car that was flying by saw her and proceeded to step on the gas instead of trying to slow down causing the car to flip. This was a scary experience because it could have changed my family’s life completely. It could have killed her and her two babies in the back of the car. This shows that car accidents are common and could happen to anyone at any time.
