Driver’s Education

The importance of driver education in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving is by following road safety and paying attention to traffic control. Wear a seatbelt, maintain lanes, keep your eyes on the road, and hands on the wheel are all steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving. Also, driving the speed limit helps in reducing driving deaths because when you speed you have a higher risk of doing more damage to you and your vehicle when involved in a car accident. Highway driving is extremely dangerous also because when approaching cars are merging into traffic you need to learn to get in the near left or right lane depending on the direction of traffic. This prevents you from having to speed up to beat the car or semi truck not moving over. I see this all the time when I am driving and people will literally drive the same speed as you but will not veer into the other lane causing you to slam on brakes. The roads were super congested over the holiday break which led to traffic being backed up and people driving slower than usual. Be aware of your surroundings while driving because people, animals, and objects on the road can cause you to veer in another lane or even drive off the road. I see plenty of people drive irresponsibly and it affects the people around them. I do not condone in impaired driving because you can fall asleep or swerve into someone else’s lane while driving. One time I had a bad car accident being sideswiped by a drunk driver. My family and I were headed somewhere for the weekend and we were involved in a wreck by a delivery truck driver. The box truck ran the red light as we were starting to move forward because our light had turned green for us to go. We did not realize that the woman had hit us until our vehicle was in someone’s front yard. It all happened so fast and my grandmother’s dog jumped out of the vehicle and ran away. My grandmother’s door was jammed so they had to use the jaws of life to extract her from the vehicle. We got to the hospital and everyone was talking about the incident with the officers to file a report. Thankfully, the driver was not driving too fast or the impact could have been critical, even deadly. Once we all left the hospital for minor treatment we found out that the woman was driving the truck for her boyfriend. This was not a good idea for her because she was not supposed to be driving the vehicle anyways. No party was being responsible in this case because the work company was sued on the employee’s negligence. Car accidents can be eliminated by not driving too close, using your mirrors, speeding, or being distracted on the road. Some people drive with two hands and two feet to be super precautious of the things happening around them while they are driving. You can reduce the number of deaths while driving by not talking or texting on the phone, drinking, or doing drugs. It is illegal to drink on the road because of the DUI law. DUI means driving under the influence of alcohol which is one of the leading causes of driving deaths. Another example is DWI which is driving while impaired because of drug use. The best step you can take is to be a responsible driver while on the road so that you are safe for yourself and others. You can be a safe driver by being a designated driver for others who do not want to obey the law. Do not put people in harm’s way just because you want to drink or text and drive recklessly. Pay attention to the roads at all times and look for signs that warn you of apparent danger while on the roads. These are some signs to look for: blind curves and dead ends. This gives you a heads up to drive safe and responsible while on the road. You can help others be safe on the road by letting them know when bad weather arises as well as if there are road blocks. Always remember to have a valid driver’s license and current insurance coverage so that you are not penalized or jailed for not having the proper credentials to drive on the roadways.
