Driving Safe

As a kid I remember this experience me and my family were driving down the road on our way home from Disney and I was playing on my tablet until there was a shake in the car. My mother got out of the car with my father and they started to argue with someone behind us.

As a kid I can’t imagine what is going on all I knew was the car shook and I couldn’t process that we got hit by a car because I never been in an accident before or seen one happen live. I sat there quietly wandering whats going to happen and I was glad my sister was ok.

My family always told me my entire life to be safe and I kept reminding them we had this conversation 100s of times but they kept on saying its not because of me its because they don’t trust other people on the road and now I understand. Teaching safety is the best way to prevent deaths and my family just wants to see me come home.

I always see my friends driving Irresponsibly mainly because they think nothing can happen and its funny, I got this one friend named Jonathan and he likes to go well over the speed limit and when he has someone who is afraid of his driving he likes to go on the wrong side of the road when no cars are around on the country side of the county. I understand that he is doing this because he think its ok and nothing will happen however its irresponsibly escpially because he isn’t thinking straight in the moment. I am sure he thinks he is safe because he doesn’t see any cars ahead of us on the road but hes not thinking about other things for example kids. See driving through the country side means there are less cars on the road so the roads are usually two laned one going this way and the other goes the opposite direction side by side. There are lots of trees around so its hard to see people walking and some people don’t pay attention to both sides of the road so if they expecting a car to come from only one side because a car should only show up on one side than my friend could get into a potential accident. All because he was reckless driving and didn’t comprehend the possibility of some person walking into the road.

Another thing I see people do irresponsibly is take a right turn on a green light without stopping. A green light means its safe to go forward and you are allowed to take a turn but check to see if there are any walkers. Lots of times when I rode my bike I would almost get hit by someone taking a left or right turn on a green light because they are only paying attention to cars and not the sidewalks. At each redlight there might be a crosswalk where people are waiting for a light so they can cross. Roads sometimes sync the roads so that when the cars can go straight people parrel to the road should be able to cross since the main flow of traffic wont be interrupted by them. Which is why its important to check before you turn because there could be a person trying to cross the road which he is legally allowed to do since he has the right of way.

By letting people understand that there are more things to driving than preventing accidents from vehicle to vehicle but instead of preventing any sort of collision from driver to anything weather its manmade, biological, or just a part of nature is the best way to prevent deaths because lots of people believe safe driving is preventing car accidents with other cars.

Steps that can be taken to prevent deaths are to make flashing lights that walkers or bikers can use when crossing a part of the road so that cars can be more aware and see people trying to cross.

Steps I can take to be a safer driver is to watch the speed limit I know I go a few miles over and so do others. When everyone else is speeding I feel like its ok to speed and maybe by me speeding some others feel its ok to match my speed so I will keep an eye on the speedometer and make sure I don’t encourage that behavior.

I hope we can all be safer on the road because imagine getting into a accident knowing it could have been prevented if you just looked or took a few extra seconds. Killing someone or injuring another person can be so traumatizing and its so easy to prevent to lets be safer out there!
