The Importance Of Driving Safely

Drivers education is super important, someone might ask why is it so important? The simple answer is to reduce the number of casualties and overall car related accidents on the road. Many states require young drivers to take this class before they receive their license and the reason why will have you sad. The number of car accident related casualties each year in the U.S. is nearly 43,000 people but the number of car accidents is much greater it can be anywhere from 1,000,000+ car accidents each year, as a community we need to fix and lessen the amount of occurring accidents. As there are many ways to prevent accidents and many ways to learn about what accidents can do to you and others a course called drivers education can be taken to help students even adults to reduce the chances of getting into car accidents.

In order to reduce the number of casualties a course you have to take https://www.dmvedu.org/nevada-drivers-ed/drivers education. This class teaches anyone how to safely operate a vehicle on the road to prevent accidents. You want to make sure that when you are driving that you are not on any medications that may make driving difficult, make sure you are not under the influence, and make sure you have plenty of rest and are not drowsy. These are some of the biggest causes of accidents. Another major one is weather conditions, make sure you are driving safe and accordingly to the weather conditions. This leads me into my story, On March 30th 2023 I woke up at 6:30 am to go to a dentist appointment at my moms office, I brought my twin sister and my younger brother along with me that morning. Little did I know that day would be one of the most terrifying days of my life. As I left in my Chevy Blazer I did not realize that the roads were icy because I had only had my license for 2 months I didn’t know much yet. My car was not in 4WD I was five minutes away from my house my dad not far behind my siblings and I, within those five minutes I thought to myself okay I’m good the roads look fine. As soon as I took that turn onto the highway everything went south… I started to fish-tail I couldn’t gain control of the car. The car slid all the way to the other side of the road into a ditch where my siblings and I rolled the vehicle. When everything was over I looked up my pinky was broken my nail ripped off blood all over my shirt, My sister screaming my brother is on the phone with my dad “ dad we crashed we are all okay but you need to come get us.” I managed to not hit anyone a close call was a man and his newborn baby. When my dad got to the scene he realized that he left a tire and a 40 pound bag of chains in the back they were not strapped down. The tire ended up flying 60 feet behind me and the chains about 20 feet I then realized that those two things could have easily killed all of us but they didn’t because god was with us that day. My siblings and I were so very lucky to be alive. And suffering no major injury’s that is just crazy.

Ever since that day I have observed the roads a lot better than I had before I am a safer driver still not perfect but no one is. To be a better driver I had taken the steps that I learned from drivers education into consideration.

I took these steps because I wanted to keep myself and others safe on the road. It is especially in the winter conditions that I apply these for my benefit in safety. These steps were, wear your seatbelt, avoid all distractions, be courteous drive the recorded speed limit, make sure there is nothing loose in your car, check the weather, and pay attention to your surroundings. These have helped me become a better driver and they can help you and other drivers to become better on the road to. By taking these steps into consideration, you can become a better driver today and take drivers education trust me it is worth it. You will be a better and more responsible driver. You can prevent accidents on the road. So do it take the class it’s the best.
