Driver’s Education Essay
In the world nowadays, everyone has some type of vehicle to drive around to get to where they need to go. Most people use their vehicle to get back and forth from work or more important places. Driving is what we all have to learn to do to be able to go from place to place. Just imagine if everyone did what they wanted and no consequences came from driving like you wanted. Everybody would be driving uncontrollably and recklessly. Car accidents would be even more. This is why we have rules and laws to try and keep people safe.
I learned a lot of rules and laws just from experience watching my parents drive and Driver’s Education class. My driver’s education class taught me a lot. The most important thing about Drivers Education is that it gives the driver more information and information that they will need to start driving. Personally, I took a drivers Education course, and over the two semesters that I took it, I learned the importance of being a safe driver. It’s super important because it teaches you the skills and knowledge needed to be a safe and responsible driver. It covers things like traffic laws, road signs, and defensive driving techniques. Plus, it gives you practice behind the wheel so you can gain confidence and experience. It’s all about keeping yourself and others safe on the road. Most accidents on the roads happen from people being on their phone and they don’t pay attention to the road. I learned a very valuable lesson when I turned 16. My mom before I even started driving, told me that I better not text and drive. She preached this to me; however, the day I turned 16, I got caught texting and driving. My mom found out about it and took my truck keys the day after I turned 16 for a week. Texting and driving is very dangerous. You can drift into another lane and hit someone or drift off the road and cause yourself to wreck. I also had an extended family member who was texting and driving and never saw the truck in front of her stopped. She ended up going under the big rig and passing away.
Another reason why there are a lot of accidents on the roads is drinking and driving. Most people drink and try to drive because they think that they are not drunk. I only had one or two drinks and I’m fine. I need to get home so I don’t want to get caught or get in trouble. I’m going to be okay, everyone thinks; however, that attitude is what causes deaths. One sip! Don’t drive! It is not worth it! People think it’s ok to drink just a little and drive but one beer or any alcohol you put in your mouth slows down your reaction time and keeps your brain from reacting as fast as it could normally react. So when you drink and drive you put other people at risk and not only you.
Another reason why most people are killed in car accidents is that people don’t wear their seat belt, get thrown out of the vehicle and get killed. Seat belts save lives! Yes they are uncomfortable and most people don’t like wearing them but when it’s the one thing that keeps you from flying out of your vehicle, the uncomfortableness is worth it.
I have experienced two wrecks in my life. The first accident that I was in was when my brother, step mom and I were coming back from Northport. The person in front of us had a trailer on their truck but the trailer lights didn’t work. The truck slammed on their brakes. With no working lights, my stepmom had to slam on her brakes. The person behind us didn’t see us stop and ran into the back of us. We were all blessed to have come out not injured. The second accident I was in was on a dirt road with my buddies. He hit a washed out spot in the road, and we started spinning and sliding. We finally stopped when we hit an embankment. If my friend in the front seat wouldn’t have had a seat belt on, he probably wouldn’t be here today.
Here are some simple steps you can take to become a better and safer driver:
-
Stay focused! Don’t text, eat, or use your phone. Always keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel
-
Follow traffic laws, obey speed limits, stop signs, and traffic signals. They’re there for a reason.
-
Use turn signals to always signal your intentions when changing lanes or making turns. It helps other drivers anticipate your actions.
-
Be aware of blind spots, check your mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes.
-
Avoid aggressive driving, stay calm and patient on the road. Be courteous and respectful.
-
Stay sober, never drink and drive. Alcohol and drugs impair your judgment and reaction time.
.By following these steps, you’ll not only become a safer driver but also contribute to a safer road environment for everyone.
