Dart Safe Driving
Driving Education is very important because driving is a skill that doesn’t only take a lot of practice but also a lot of knowledge, patience, awareness and discipline. When you are behind the wheel, you need to understand the rules of the road, for example what traffic lights mean, what road signs mean, and the importance of using your turn signals. When you are behind the wheel, you need to have patience because everyone is trying to get to their destination as quickly and safely as possible. Failing to yield the right of way to incoming traffic can cause an accident which can result in serious injury or even death.
While driving you need to be aware of your surroundings, especially in inclement weather or even at night. While driving it is important to have discipline such as obeying all the traffic laws and not speeding. My grandpa always told me if you are in a rush try to leave 15 minutes early.
While driving it is important to stay focused on the road and to not let everyday distractions distract you such as eating, texting, calling, reading, putting on makeup etc. etc. On all major roads and highways in America speed limits are posted. This is not a suggestion this is to ensure the safety of you and all other drivers on the road, it is important to adjust your mirrors for proper vision.
All passengers riding in the vehicle should always be wearing safety belts in case of any collision to prevent serious injuries or even death. It is important that all passengers do not distract the driver, with loud conversations, and any distractions, which may cause the driver to not pay attention to the road, and traffic situations.
As a driver, it is important to keep up with maintenance on your vehicle, such as getting fluid changed and keeping the tires inflated to recommended tire pressure. As a driver, it is important to always keep both hands on the steering wheel while driving. You always must think of a steering wheel as a clock, your hands should be at the 9:00 and 3:00 positions according to the National Traffic and Safety Highway Administration (NTSHA).
I personally have been in an auto accident before. Few years ago, I was traveling North on Interstate 275 near Eastgate, Ohio; and as I was switching lanes; a semi-truck, in which I did not see, came into contact with my rear tires. Causing me to spin my vehicle clear across three lanes of highway. Luckily, no one was injured. Both the truck driver and me, walked away without scratch- free or damage to either vehicle. It was then that I realized how lucky I was to walk away from this accident. There have been one thousand two hundred seventy-five reported deaths in the state of Ohio, in the year 2023 from car accidents. Walking away from this accident has taught me to always be more aware of my surroundings and to be more alert while driving.
Whenever I give someone a ride, I will not let them ride in my car without wearing a safety belt on. Growing up, I remember my mom always tended to talk and text on her phone while she was driving. It was then that I would have to remind her that she was distracted by her driving.
Finally, the steps that I can take to be a better driver are to pay attention to all of my driving skills that I have learned. Which includes keeping a safe distance from all other drivers on the road, by maintaining at least two car lengths from the driver that is ahead of me. Always keeping my hands on my steering wheel while I am driving. To avoid all communications such as texting while driving and talking on my phone without Bluetooth technology. To refrain from any distraction while I am driving, such as eating, or drinking. To obey each traffic law to the fullest protection of the law, in the state in which I am driving in.
It is my goal to teach other drivers, and the people around me, the importance of safe driving skills, and to encourage each person to responsibilities while driving in a moving vehicle. I want to be a role model for my family and friends, always while driving and in a vehicle to always do the safest way possible. To ensure safety, and dependence on being cautious while in a moving automobile.
